What’s worse is it was a hairpiece that was mistakenly cut this short… and they still used it.

I loved the line in the new film about this. Made me laugh out loud.

That said, watching 5cream has made me wanna re-watch the others, so who knows, maybe I'll revisit Scream 3 and come away proclaiming it to be some subversive meta masterpiece or something.
Agreed, such a drop down from the first two.

Why didn't they just go with the hair she had? Lol

In all honesty though, if I had to cherry pick the Scream films, I'd still stick with the trilogy over 4 and 5. 4 is good and 5 is alright, but for me the trilogy with the problematic 3rd film told a complete story. 4 and 5 are basically about revisiting that first film whether remake or requel.

I agree but just like Halloween, for me it doesn’t really dilute the first two. They are still there to enjoy. Same with the first two Aliens. I f***** adore those films and the weaker entries don’t dilute my enjoyment of them.

I’m glad some folk loved 5cream. I didn’t, but I did enjoy it. I feel ready for a really fresh new horror franchise, whatever that may be. There is always the sense that things are just being reheated sometimes.

Simply put, I just didn't think it delivered as a slasher film. There are no chase scenes or decent set-pieces, no suspense, and most of the "kills" end up with
[Show spoiler]the victim actually surviving.

I didn't hate it, but I just kind of shrugged when it was over. Weakest entry in the series.

It's also super fun and camp while still giving us good performances and a sleek direction. The set piece in the woodsboro set is great stuff
I dislike 3 because for the most part it’s a comedy if I recall correctly. Only the opening and Sarah Darling attack scenes are suspenseful and good.

It’s because Radio Silence are hack directors who don’t know how to generate suspense. They didn’t include any chase scenes or decent buildup because they can’t.

Does anyone remember back around 2000 I think either Craven or Williamson said in an interview that if there’s ever a Scream 4 it would go in a completely new direction, as in no ghostface or use any of the characters from the first 3 films, basically a Halloween 3 direction.

Scream 3 showed us what the franchise looks like when you remove Kevin Williamson. 5cream shows us what happens when you remove him and Craven, and it ain’t pretty.

I wondered how long it would take the anti-woke mob to clock that in a very multiracial cast
[Show spoiler]only white characters were killed off and revealed to be villains.

I see a storm coming…

I'd say that the hospital scene with Tara was a chase scene, it was also a homage to Halloween 2 (1981), the opening attack was one of the most violent, the leg breaking made me cringe and the knife through the hand was nicely done. For the set-pieces although it was spoiled in the trailer and poster, I still felt that it was a nice touch having the final be revealed to be the Macher's house. We got six deaths including
[Show spoiler]a legacy character
and three surviving victims
[Show spoiler]Tara (was never meant to die in the opening, she was just bait), Mindy (too many people around for the killer to do any real damage), Chad (this is the only one you could actually complain about)
I will agree that suspense wise, it fell flat, they underutilized the Ghostface costume by not having him appear in the shadows or jumping out of the dark, night scenes were to well lighted and having one of the kills be in broad daylight in the front yard on a suburban neighborhood! A better setup would of been to have that scene shot from a neighbors window with them going about their day unaware of the attack happening in the background across the street....

I'm in the same boat. It's been rough going with franchises, man. Matrix was a dud imo, Halloween Kills took a zen like state for me to overlook the problems it had and enjoy what was good about it, Scream 5 was competent, but uneventful. It doesn't persuade its existence. Just seems like studios just want to take the piss out of beloved franchises.

it's not a mob, it's fans of a clever witty and bold franchise that do not tolerate the woke and trendy take of this movie. It makes it predictable, safe and stupid.

Both Scream and Scream 2 were considered the "trendiest" horror films of their era.

So much so that both one and 2 have the word "hip" quoted on their posters.

If you don't like the film, cool, but don't start attacking it for being "woke", it just makes you sound like a grumpy scared old white man who's opinion gets easier to ignore.

scream was a trend setter it didn't follow the trends it made fun of trends and tropes. the new one is a woke predictable politically correct trope. Telling me "I'm white"in a derogatory fashion is silly.

Look where we ended up like... I miss the previous more carefree movies that did not have to walk on eggshells in order not to offend anyone, on the contrary they took chances and didn't put art and creativity in a box.
