From what I've seen (the first series and first episode of series 2) you really start to root for the guy, you see him pretty much stepped on a lot, and as you see him continue to begin to stand up to the people who are beating him in life. However I've also read that as the series progress's, he becomes a very unlikeable monster and he starts falling down a really slippery slope in series 4, but this makes him all the more compelling to watch

They do something magical to get you hooked on Walter White. A fantastic husband, a tremendous father, and a school teacher who is passionate and caring about his stundents learning.

Cooking meth is NOT a choice for walt. It isnt about money or greed. Walt is backed into a corner because of life events and circumstances and he is forced to do what a "Man" must do. (Bearcat will get the "Man" thing )

"We are Men right? Thats what we DO."

Once you are hooked on Walt and his plight the ride does become rocky and full of surprises that will test your faith in Walt, your own ethics and morals, and frequently present you with very difficult choices about where YOU might draw the line in the sand. The choices are never easy. It's a journey by the unprepared through a world requiring tools that can only be aquired while er route, and immediate aqusition of said skills is a matter of life and death, always.

It is a violent emotional rollercoaster that swings from hope and rejoicing in the human spirit, to fighting off the seething underbelly of the scummiest and most violent people to slither our world.

The show has an extremely high WTF moment-to-hour ratio. You will be pushed one way and then slammed another without time to prepare. It provides many jawdropping moments of what humans are cpable of, both good and evil. Fear, rage, heartbreak, hope, love, compassion, deceit, surrender, confusion, frustration, they are all on the menu, in full force, and often forced down your throat at the same time.

The acting is nothing less than 5+ stars, and then some.
The cinematography is excellent and at times is exqusite and high caliber art. Just the framing and composition of some shots alone tells a story.
The directing and editing are masterworks and flawless.
It has some nonlinear storytelling components that are deliciosly baiting, and then satisfying.

The opening four minutes of the first episode of season three are some of the most beautifully filmed moments I can remember of all films/TV I have seen. Odd slow pans blended with colseups, slowly pulling back and capturing a mesmerizing, dialogue free WTF sequence of events that make no sense, until ALL is explained in the closing moment, still without dialogue. All captured with beautiful desert rock formations as a backdrop, under the oversaturated orange sundrenched Mexican sky. ART.

Yeah, its THAT f@cking good.

LMAO Frogger!!!!!!!!!!

We all saw a movie called Triangle. It may have sparked the longest and most detailed discussion about its meaning and events of all films to date on this site.

Its a psychological thriller (not a horror film about the Bermuda Triangle as the package makes it appear) If you are interested, read and learn nothing about it before seeing it.

Its awesome. Enjoy and come back here with your questions and/or theories.

Tangled - 2010

I had no idea what I was doing when I clicked on this on Netflix. I don't normally do disney movies... nevertheless cartoon movies.

Pretty decent movie. I could have done without the singing every 15 minutes. If it didn't have all that singing, I would have ranked it higher. But Tangled was actually a pretty good movie. It's no Lion King or other highly rated Disney movie, but it was good entertainment. It was pretty funny, and had a decent story. This is definitely a good kids movie, mostly for girls. So all in all, it wasn't bad.

Realistically, the movie is a little girly, but not too girly for me.

The Music Never Stopped - 2010

Here's a movie based on a true story of a man who suffers from a brain tumor. This tumor prevents him from forming new memories. So the only way his parents can talk or connect with him is through music.

This is a touching movie that really brings out the connection of father/son. There are more details to the story, but that would spoil the plot. It's a bit slow in the beginning, but gets much better as it goes along. The ending to this movie was a very good pay off to the somewhat slow start in the beginning. I'm sure a lot of guys can relate to the father/son spectrum that is told in this movie. If you like dramas with heart and a touching story, this one's for you. Oh, and there's lots of classic rock that's played in the movie too. (I love classic rock)

Just remember this: tearjerker.

Got some real winners here…

Elvira: Mistress of the Dark.”

Couldn’t tell you anything about this movie, because I was strangely mesmerized and distracted by Elvira’s chest the whole time.

[Show spoiler] Okay, for the record, the movie is campy as hell, but it’s charming and fun that way. The story’s not terribly sophisticated, and the film has a cheap production value, but the acting is superb for what it’s supposed to be, and the special effects are good for its time. Altogether, it’s one of those movies that’s self-consciously B-rated and silly.

3.5/5 (entertainment: 4/5, story: 3/5, film: 3/5)

Recommendation: As a rental.

Murder By Television.”

Part of a 25-movie collection of mystery stories (of which I probably will not be seeing any more). In this particular “whodunit” story, a man drops dead during a live broadcast, and a group of relatively unrelated rich people in a house try to figure it out. Back in the day, when the advent of TV was still groundbreaking technology, this might have struck a chord with audiences, who might have still been amazed and skeptical of it. But today, it’s just utterly stupid (especially with the final reveal,
[Show spoiler]in which nobody actually killed the guy; they explain that a pair of signals coalesced and beamed through the guy, turning the camera into a “death ray” that killed him
).

Yep, this story is about as stupid and shallow as can be. It has a bunch of characters gathered together, but we never really learn much about them. When you have a mystery story with no strong characters, the purpose of the mystery is defeated, since we can’t really wonder or guess as to who the guilty culprit is. Since we never learn anything about the people, we can’t relate to them, and the film fails miserably to lead us through the supposed mystery (which is rendered
[Show spoiler]irrelevant
with the given ending anyway). Thus, the story fails to carry any weight, and the film fails to entertain (except for the ridiculous acting and the horrible dialogue, which makes most of the film laughable).

The film looks cheap, with average photography and editing. Acting is awful; Bella Lugosi is the big star here, and he acts like Dracula without the creepiness (and Dracula himself was a funny guy to watch). Writing is pretty darn bad, especially since all of the technical jargon used makes absolutely no sense. Production value is extremely cheap. The movie sucks.

1/5 (entertainment: 2/5, story: 0.5/5, film: 0.5/5)

Recommendation: I recommend bashing your head into your LCD/Plasma screens and letting the warm electric goo pour on your head before I recommend this crap.

And while we’re at it, we decided to watch “The Brain That Wouldn’t Die” again. Same review still applies; it's becoming my go-to example of a movie that's "so bad it's good." I got the Synapse DVD edition which features a fairly clean-looking picture and the uncut version. If they Blu-Rayed this, it would be swell!

Quote:

Or…wait, that’s what it says at the beginning, but the end credits calls it the “Head That Wouldn’t Die.” What the?

At any rate, it’s a short B-rated sci-fi flick involving a mad scientist who, after a silly car crash, keeps his girlfriend’s accidentally-severed head alive…with science! While the head croons that she just wants to die, the guy goes out stalking hot women rather pathetically so he can take one of their bodies and fix his girlfriend.

Story sounds like a winner, doesn’t it? I couldn’t help but to think of the hilarious scenes in “Mars Attacks,” “The Man With Two Brains,” “Futurama,” and other features that lampoon off of this movie. It’s a rather ridiculous idea overall, and there are plenty of moments in this original film that are way too easy to make fun of. Then again, that’s where the fun is.

If this film was made today, it would either be a hilarious slapstick comedy (like one of the afore-mentioned films) or a grisly gorefest film (like “The Re-Animator” or something), either of which would have been awesome. Coming from 1962, this film shows its age horribly, and doesn’t really have en edge either way. But surprisingly, the edge does exist: there is actual blood on the screen! One guy looses his arm! There’s an awesome scene where two half-nude women fight (cleverly punctuated with the image of two cats and a meowing sound; we speculate that this is the mother of all catfights )! By today’s standards, this is still lame PG-rated fare. But for the 60s…OH MY GOD!!!

The film’s photography is generally not bad. But its weaknesses are strong: acting is pretty silly at times, writing is forceful in a bad way, and the production value is low and cheap (although there are some cool classic cars in the film). Music has some cool jazz.

Yep, the story sucks, the film is bad, but it’s fun for all the wrong reasons.

3/5 (entertainment: 4/5, story: 2.5/5, film: 2.5/5)

Recommendation: Nope! Not unless you’re really REALLY into these type of films.
