Oh my God! George Lucas just sold Lucasfilm to Disney!!

That includes Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Industrial Light & Magic, and Skywalker Sound. They are already talking about making Star Wars: Episode VII, and said there will be a new Star Wars movie every couple of years. I just can't believe this, but it's not a joke.

Yeah, I'm just kind of dumbfounded by this. I really hope they treat this stuff with respect. I read that they plan on coming out with Episode VII in 2015, and then plan on pumping out a new one every couple of years after that!

What the hell?!

Cannot be any worse than the way Lucas has treated it.

I'm just surprised Lucas never put out the sequels. Guess to busy with the TV shows, and making Darth say, "Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!"

I haven't bought the BDs yet, refuse to. Want the theatrical cuts. Now, maybe I'll get them.

Btw, LOVE the new avatar!

Thanks Travis.

I like all of the Star Wars films, and while I could have done without some of the changes to the OT, most of them don't bother me too much.

You'll probably get the originals, but you better buy them quick, before they go into the Disney vaults!

That's funny you said that, because I just posted this in that new thread about 30 minutes ago:

Joss Whedon would also be on my short list, but he's already agreed to direct the next Avengers movie, so I doubt he could do it.

Hmmm.....
George Lucas and Steven Spielberg are very good friends, and also Kathleen Kennedy is president of Lucasfilm, and will be staying in charge of it after Disney takes over, and she is pretty much always an executive producer on all of Spielberg's movie, so you never know. I think Steven Spielberg directing a new Star Wars trilogy would be a perfect fit and a dream come true!

He never intended for any more than 6 too be made. The 3 new sequels are something that Disney have concocted im sure.

In my opinion he should have stopped after the first 3 classics not even making the special editions. I could also easily have been without I, II and III.

Actually, from what I've read, Lucas has been working on a sequel for years or decades, and they will be using his screenplay/story treatment to base the new trilogy on. He will also be on board as a creative consultant for the films.

Also, I like the newer ones too. They may not be on the same level storywise as the originals, but they are fast paced and action packed, and if nothing else, the sound quality is astounding.

The vault sucks. Took me forever to find Pinocchio her on BD.

No worry, I'll be getting the theatrical original trilogy on day 1; I'd even pay $100 for a bare bones set.

You on lunch break?

Knowing Disney, it might be close to that price. It seems like a lot of their stuff comes out around here at $29.99 and almost never goes on sale. I have a feeling that after a little while, there will be an absolute glut of Star Wars stuff available.
