I'm wrapping up layout and booklet design work on both titles as we speak. And Thinh Dinh's artwork for Racing is a thing of beauty. Stay tuned!

That definitely seems up Fun City's alley it fits so well it's also a hugely wanted title from my wishlist for me. Although, I could also see Arrow Video doing that title too as it seems like they're planning on putting out Black Rain next year as well. So it wouldn't surprise me if Arrow picked that up too, but I feel personally it fits Fun City's label more.

Fantastic news about LIFEGUARD, ordered! I remember when this was on VHS, it was part of a "Joan Collins Presents" series of "hunky" films.

Do we know when it will actually ship out?

Lifeguard is a fantastic, incredibly underrated film, the themes of which I think are still incredibly resonant. And at the same time, is a major 70s time capsule. I truly didn’t think it would get a bluray release, so I’m very pleased that not only is it getting one, but it’s getting a really nice one! Looking forward to picking this up.

FCE is outstanding. I wish OCN and FCE would shake hands and “re-partner.”

They were always the best partner label on the VS website.

Agreed. My FCE collection is growing fast, while I only have a handful of CIP and a nibbling of other PLs. The labels that are breaking off from OCN are the truly ambitious ones with a bright future.

I would say it's a coming-of-age film for guys who are 30 and still no future on what to do in life. If remade today the guy would be living in mom's basement.

One of my favorite scenes in LIFEGUARD occurs after Sam Elliott and the considerably younger Kathleen Quinlan have been intimate. She sees an invitation to his 35th high school reunion on a table and wonderingly exclaims, "'Wow--you're over 30!" Her line reading manages to be both funny and revealing.

LIFEGUARD is a very nice, interesting, sensitively perceptive movie about a place in a person's time when they question where they are and where they should be. Unfortunately, the ad campaign made it sound like GIDGET MEETS A LIFEGUARD and people thought it looked and sounded like some lost in time version of Frankie Avalon having a mid-life crisis. When it came out, I braved the ridiculous tagline of the movie and went and saw it, only a month after I had graduated high school and was asking a lot of the same questions Sam Elliott must confront in the story. It was not an easy time for me and the film really made me feel that I was not alone.

LIFEGUARD is about a man who knows what he wants out of life--even if other people disagree with his choices. I myself owned an "all cult" video store in the 1980s and 1990s, even though some family members and friends thought that I should be doing something "more important." That's one of the reasons I have always liked LIFEGUARD.

The misleading poster art just makes the film look like a typical Crown International T & A comedy. Nothing wrong with those, but that's not what LIFEGUARD is.

I remember the tv movie ads and saw it on network tv CBS 1st showing. I liked the story, but I could not understand why at his age he didn't take that Porche sales job to remain a lifeguard. When I was out of high school, I was looking for a break like that at 18. Another example Tony Manero from SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER was blowing his low salary at the disco and wanted to get a better job at the end of the movie.

Movie could have used some more T & A to spice it up a bit for repeat viewing.

It almost seems like Cinématographe was born out of Fun City leaving. I wonder if that's actually what happened. There seems like there could be a fairly sizable amount of crossover between the two labels as far as what they'd both be interested in releasing. I feel like they'd almost cancel each other out if they were both under the VS umbrella.
