Looks like my days of buying tv series on Blu-ray is coming to a end. AHS:1984 has been pulled from release according to fans in that show’s thread. Looks like Disney want it for their international (Star) streaming service next year.

Next, I learn Killing Eve has changed distribution for series 3 and will probably be locked. So that’s an entire collection of AHS worthless and now two series of Killing Eve. I’m so ******** angry!

I have made the decision to only buy mini series, catalogue tv and one off shows. Multiple tv series are now dead to me on Blu-ray, just not worth the investment.

There you have it. A vaccine was developed but the virus was gone before it could be administered.
Same could happen here.

the part in blue is referring to 2009, but obviously the part in red, that I disagree with, does not and it is referring to Covid-19 when he says the same could happen again

Technically I don't know that the sun will be here tomorrow or next week or next month... (like I don't know Covid-19 will be around tomorrow or next week or next month). That does not stop the sun (or Covid-19) being around tomorrow and a safe point to make and that it will take insane amounts of evidence for a reasonable man to believe otherwise.

Because when I’m enjoying a show on Blu-ray, I want to have the entire collection on my shelf. They are part of a continuing story. Now,I only have part of that story with the rest incomplete. Therefore, I feel like I only have half the story. Would you buy a expensive hardback book that had several chapters missing?

AHS (more so in the later series) are interlinked. Characters are showing up in seemingly unrelated stories only to reveal certain aspects of the show are indeed linked.

You should be extremely happy that you got 8 full seasons of the show on Blu-ray instead of whining that you won't get more. They've provided you many hours on enjoyment already. That sounds like you've already got more than your money's worth and absolutely nothing is stopping you from watching them over and over again.
agree, it i9s more like a sequel that was never made but you are looking forward to.

I think a better analogy would be if your favorite author, let's say Lee Child, whose books have been released in hardcover and his next two are only released in digital - no hardcover, then as a collector of his hardcover books, your collection is now incomplete.

Not at all, but it would irk me to know that he had written two more books that I can't read . . . and no, I will not sit in front of my PC screen to read a book!

In the case of Lee Child, he had written a bunch of short stories with Jack Reacher in them. They were all digital. Then all of a sudden, they get released in a hardcover version only get this . . . it's smaller than a regular sized hardcover height wise. So I, who have all of his books in hardcover look at my collection and it stands out like a broken off tooth in a smile.

They are part of a bigger story. If I choose not to buy on digital, I will never know how it ends.

That would drive me nuts. I seemed to be doing really well with the Reacher series staying current with them, but seeing Tom Cruise as Reacher kind of ruined them for me. I can’t stop picturing him when I was reading subsequent books, so the series lost a bit of luster for me...which is weird because I love a lot of Tom Cruise movies.

I am with Steedeel on this one, but think worthless might be a strong word to use. It probably would prevent me from rewatching the first few seasons of whatever show this happens to though.

If something like this happened to my favorite show Breaking Bad, and I was not able to see the ending, I doubt I would revisit the seasons I did own and enjoy. As a result of enjoying them the first go around would make it difficult to think of them as worthless though.

But because there is an investment in the characters and the storyline, I would feel cheated and pretty angry though.

Hell, there are people who will not go back and watch Game of Thrones again because they didn’t like the last season, and felt cheated by that.

Just like worthless might be a strong word, so is absurd. It is okay to have different opinions on this as both can be right depending on the individual.

I don’t disagree. I am not saying to stop buying them at all however, just that there will be less of a pull to revisit if something is incomplete, at least to me. I buy tv shows on disc all the time, with some being current as soon as they are released, with others being complete sets after the show has had it’s run come to end. Right now I am in the middle of the last season of Mr Robot, but have the next Season of Jack Ryan on deck, the first season of The Outsider after that, and the complete set of 12 Monkeys all waiting, so I definitely support TV on physical media.

Jack Reacher: 6'5" 250 lbs. Tom Cruise: 5'7" 170 lbs. Child was so happy his books were being made into movies ($$$) he ignored the differences in size and proclaimed Reacher's size was a metaphor. Well, his fans didn't buy that at all.

Now they are going the TV show route (like Bosch) at Amazon Prime and Child promises who ever is chosen to play Reacher will be comparable with Reacher's size as portrayed in the books.

I got into watching this Aussie TV show: Sea Patrol. I think it was on Hulu. I really liked the show and looked it up to see more info. That's when I found out that Hulu only had seasons 1-3 and the show comprised of 5. That ticked me off a bit. So I watched the 3 seasons hoping that Hulu might get the missing 2.

I was on Tubi just looking at what was available and presto! Sea Patrol! All 5 seasons!

Probably the right move to head to tv. Speaking of book series that are heading to tv, if you are looking for another one to sink your teeth into, the Orphan X series by Gregg Hurwitz is outstanding. The rights were originally purchased by Bradley Cooper, but they now are with Justin Lin for a tv series.

Same issue happened on VHS and DVD. It's just too complicated for distributors. What I try to do now is just wait on "Complete Series" releases. If that doesn't happen, I don't buy them.

I didn't bite on the Season 1 of Game of Thrones on 4K and sure enough, none of the others got releases. Now though, a complete set is coming and I'll grab that.
