We know nothing for sure. They could lie to us and we would never know. From what I've seen, the benefits of 4K are minimal and they have the same incorrect colour grading as the 2D Bluray, DVD and Laserdisc. Look at my above post. I've demonstrated it in depth.

Got the email from Best Buy saying this was delivered yesterday, I totally forgot about it because I didn't see it in my mailbox or at my front door when I got home... Anyone know Best Buy's policy on items that never got delivered or got stolen?

This is a sand beige JP Jeep with the accurate colours -
A very inspirational video too! The 3D version recreates the original colours accurately. This is how the 4K UHD colours should have looked! Very disappointing! How to paint a JP Jeep gives an in-depth look at recreating the colours - Last edited by Riddhi2011; 05-24-2018 at 11:47 AM. |

I agree, the pale colors and the purple Jeep of the UHD and the old 2D BD are just ugly.
Terrible color timing. |

This is what decades of watching an incorrect coloured version does to your head. You refuse to accept that it can be wrong even when presented with proper evidence. But anyway, it's their hard-earned money if they want to waste it and give Universal a pat in the back. People should demand answers from Universal and send their discs back demanding the original colour timing. But no, looks like most here are too happy with their shiny UHDs and minor upgrade over the 2D BD. You should not accept a half-hearted job from Universal. These people are getting away with our money by giving us a poor 2000-era looking image. They will only be forced to consider when there is an outcry and people stop buying their discs. Universal are going to do whatever Universal wants to do. If a multitude of people were to send back discs for every Blu-ray and UHD that alters the original color timing then studios would just stop releasing new editions altogether.
They probably saw the backlash regarding the 3D release and figured that people wanted a more neutral image instead of a more accurate one which unfortunately may be true, not just for Jurassic Park but for a lot of other films too. |

Double check first if there are any other members of the household that may have put it somewhere else in the house (I'm a USPS letter carrier, and this has happened many times). Then call the Post Office. They can verify exactly where your package was scanned (your place or somewhere else). If that fails to achieve satisfactory results, I truly don't know what BB policy is.

Screenshots are laughable. They do not likely take the expanded color gamut into account and definitely not HDR. These things all work in concert to produce the image. Why people treat even 4K screenshots at this point as gospel is sort of infuriating, because they’re judging based on blatant misrepresentation.

Imagine if enough people were to appeal to Mr Spielberg regarding this release then perhaps there is hope there will be a proper treatment of this movie for its 30th anniversary in 2023? I know its a long shot, but what else is there to do but accept defeat? ![]() |

It doesn't matter how much you folks keep on defending this p**s poor UHD, the truth is it does not represent the theatrical timing at all! They guys at StereoD went on record to say that they restored the original colour timing of the prints (which is not available on any other home video version). No one from the 4K remastering team said anything about how the UHD was colour-timed. This, along with all the SOLID evidence I've provided so far, shows how utterly wrong the UHD looks. But no, you have to defend this product. You go ahead and stick to the UHD and pay your hard-earned money to Universal. Be happy with a sub-par product just because you assume Universal's home video department is right. I'll keep pointing out why the UHD is wrong. Last edited by Riddhi2011; 05-24-2018 at 02:06 PM. |

I'm not saying that you're right or wrong in this particular case, just that production stills are not an accurate reference for the look of a given scene in the finished movie. |

Production stills arent indicative of how a finished film looks but they can be used to compliment more substabtial evidence.
In this case, the colors on the Jeep match ILM stills and more importantly, the original 1993 theatrical prints. Also given that the 3D version also has the same colors in regards to the Jeep and is the only master where there's evidence Spielberg was involved and the only master where effort was put into attempting to recreate the original pallete, there's pretty much no way of arguing that the UHD or any other home video master is correct. |

@Doctorossi, I also provided a freeze frame of a Jeep shot from ILM. That was not a production still. And that freeze-frame from the actual movie also shows the sand-beige tone.
This - JP_Jeep.jpg My arguments with the screenshots show a pattern. A pattern that reveals consistency in colours in all except the 2D home video versions. You didn't even look at the 35mm film frames whose link I provided a few posts back. It was warm, earthen and not pale and cold like the 2D BD, UHD. I don't know why you guys are sticking to the 2D versions as gospel. Look here - https://imgur.com/a/RtHd0iH Last edited by Riddhi2011; 05-24-2018 at 01:58 PM. |

Watched the first movie yesterday.
I liked what I saw overall though I must say I was expecting/hoping for a more grainier picture along with more fine details. I also thought it looked just a little bit washed out during some of the outside daytime scenes but perhaps this is inherent to the source/intended look? Other than that it looked quite good to me, those colors on the jeeps sure "pop" without looking unnatural. Movie itself is still a blast! I hadn't seen it in a while and it was great watching it again, this is pure Hollywood movie magic to me. ![]() Tonight: The Lost World: Jurassic Park. |
