The Oppo BD 103

[Show spoiler]I am really impressed with this machine. It is really something else. For the past month or two, i contemplated getting an upgrade to my Panasonice BD player. While searching through various names, Denon and Onkyo in particular, the players were heavily priced and one had certain feautures the other one didnt have.

The main reasons for the upgrade:
1. The PS3's i have do not cater for Dolby TrueHD through 3D - It defaults to Dolby
2. My DVD-Audio's play through PCM audio on the PS3's and do not cater for MLP lossless.
3. The DACS on the PS3 are good but do not cater for the higher end FLAC and other lossless formats.

Nonetheless, after looking through several forums, the Oppo player seemed like perfect choice
1. It plays almost all lossless formats
2. DVD-Audio and SACD capable
3. 4K upscaling (none of the other players had this) - for future proofing!
5. Two HDMI outputs (Audio and Video can be separate streams)
6. Two extra HDMI In's (In case my receiver runs out, and one of them is MHL enabled - For my android videos )
7. It also plays VCD's. I tried a couple of old ones i had, and they worked so seemlessly. PQ is also upscaled - Amazing stuff
8. The player is quite sturdy!

I was very pleased that Amazon.com offered this player @ $499. I paid around $58 for delivery, and guess what no customs charge!!! YAY. This might seem alot but the local players (Denon and Onkyo) were $680 and $899 respectively.

I threw as many different discs and formats to the BD103 and it came out tops. Even the MP3's have a more wholesome sound. If you are looking for a BD player, dont look further. This one handles almost anything!

I have no qualms suggesting this player to future buyers.

The network capabilities are also amazing. No loss in quality while streaming of my PC. It has Netflix and VUDU, but none of those services are available in South Africa as yet. But no loss, i have enough to keep me busy. I have also downloaded the Oppo remote on my Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note Tablet, it works very well!

Awesome haul. Glad that the Oppo doesn't disappoint. I can't see spending that much for a player (even though I bought a PS3 at launch & paid for my PS4 already ) I'm sure I'll bite once I get a quality sound system. Nice bag too, do you expect to bring it to a friend's house to show off?

Lol Michael Mando, he's the voice actor for the main villain in a video game called Far Cry 3. His facial features are actually used as the guy he's voice acting for in the video game. If you told me you were related to him, I would completely believe you.

Haha thanks! Yeah the Pagemaster was one of my favorites growing up so I had to have it, and for $5 I definitely couldn't pass it up. I plan on going back to Best Buy soon to take advantage of the U&S a bit more

This version of Carrie has no bonus features though if that matters.
