Cloverfeld. The movie was so spoiled to me that I never bothered to directly properly watch it.

Not that many movies, but TV shows have been spoiled ALL the TIME by social media. It's half the reason I stopped watching The Walking Dead.

By far the worst offender, is when the producing studios themselves promote their film or tv series with trailers that spoil vital parts of what they are selling.

Never ever give the marketing people (or executives) final cut on the promotional material.

Robert Zemeckis insists that his movies gets spoiled in trailers.

The trailer of Cast Away that showed Tom Hanks getting off the island and even the last shot of the film? Zemeckis' idea.

Apparently marketing research apparently shows that people in general like to be spoiled because they want to know what they're getting before they buy movie tickets.

Personally, I don't mind. A great movie works whether it's spoiled or not. I've seen Cast Away half a dozen times and it's a great experience every time even though I know going in, based on my own previous viewings, that Hanks gets off the island.

Before seeing The Empire Strikes Back ( I was about 10-11 years old at the time) I was told about what Darth Vader said to Luke at the end of the light saber dual.. Before Rocky 2, someone told me that Rocky wins the fight at the end vs Apollo Creed, so that ruined it for me as well.

I remember the trailer for What Lies Beneath, the film Zemeckis made during the Castaway shoot, spoiled practically everything.

It did.

The one movie of his I really wished hadn't been spoiled in the trailers was Allied.

I love it. I think it's honestly one of his best movies, but if we didn't know that
[Show spoiler]Marion Cottilard's character was even suspected of being a spy
, I think the first half would have played even better.

What's a light saber dual? Is that what Darth Maul has?

Before Star Trek Generations opened, a dude interviewing Shatner opened with "Well, secrets out, they killed Kirk." This was on one of the entertainment shows like Access Hollywood. I couldn't believe they aired a spoiler like that.

I eventually scrolled over some plot details of Dark Fate while on youtube by accident (algorithm or whatever showed up). I couldn't care less about the franchise by this point, but having a little bit of plot from what's supposed to a be a sequel to my favorite film is still kind of bummer, I want that shit out of my rearview mirror.

I kind of wish youtube wouldn't allow certain titles be used but what can ya do.

I saw that film fairly recently... and had no idea how it ended... agree that a newer film should not ever be spoiled...

1. The Empire Strikes Back. We all had that one spoiled.
2. Return Of The Jedi. Why my mother’s friend told me about Luke and Leia baffles me to this day.
3. The Force Awakens.
[Show spoiler]Harrison Ford was interviewed less than a week after it came out and wound up revealing that Han was killed.

4. The Matrix Revolutions. Funny story: apparently my old Funai Blu-ray player (oh the horror!) was preowned, and that guy had Revolutions on DVD, because when I put it in it went directly to the end. Not cool. (And for the record, I Office Space’d the Funai and now have a real player.)
5. King Kong. Look at the poster.
6. Mike’s Murder. Read the title.
7. The Ten Commandments. Literally every commercial shows the end of the movie.

Right when The Sixth Sense barely opened in the theaters I was talking to a family member on the phone and casually said they just saw the movie and mentioned the ending to me

In 2004, I was lining up to buy a ticket to The Punisher.

The guy behind me was talking to his friend accompanying him, telling him the basic outline of the plot. I went in to see the movie anyway, and completely forgot what I heard once I was in the theater.

July 2008, ''The Dark Knight'' has just come out. I'm sitting in a Denny's in Florida having breakfast and a kid in the next booth says ''Rachel died''....
