Talking Have you ever had a movie spoiled to you?

Name a time when somebody has spoiled a movie by revealing the ending. Why do people think it is okay to talk loudly about the end of a brand new movie in crowded areas? I have a rule to not discuss a movie right after seeing it at the theater until we are in the car.

A friend of mine ruined the end of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets because he had to tell me how great the ending was. No warning either.

Use "SPOILERS" at you're own discretion.

It didn't happen to me, but just today a close friend almost had LOST spoiled to her. She just started watching the show for the first time and is in season 2 and while talking about it at work, someone else comes up and is like, "what are you talking about?" and I say hesitantly say "...Lost..." and she then shouts out "OH MY GOD CAN YOU BELIEVE WHEN (insert almost anything after season 2 here)!" and midway through her rampage of ruining one of the best shows of all time I quickly splashed water at her to shut her up.

I always make sure that if I' talking about something, that everyone around me either 1) doesn't care if i tell them or 2) has already seen it themselves.

One of my friends (who is a complete dick) saw The Dark Knight in theatres about 12 times and every single time he left he would give away major spoiler moments about the film to people waiting for the next showing. Surprised he wasn't killed for that.

I remember when watching Spider-Man 3 at Imax and the people behind me always kept mentioning what was going to happen next like as if they've seen movie dozens of times that they memorized the whole movie. Even just before the ending they were even talking about the ending during the movie before it happened.

After the movie I was so pissed off I just wanted to punch them in the mouth because for 1. Trying to watch the movie, and 2. Do not spoil the movie's story for anyone while in a movie theater or even at home for that matter.

I was at work one day when this idiotic chick was talking about Paranormal Activity. She kept saying, "I couldn't belive when..." and "It scared me when ..." and was just going on and on after people kept telling her to shut up. She was so stupid - she also thought it was real. I tried to tell her if the movie was true it would have been on the news when it happened - she just didn't get it. But then again, she also let her 10 year old watch the remake of My Bloody Valentine and complain to us about the nudity in the movie - the cursing and violence didn't bother her.

I was waiting in line to see Nixon back in the 90's. This lady was walking out of the theater and said, "I can't believe how they handled his resignation!"

Thanks lady. Way to ruin a movie before I even sit down. Thanks a lot!

Two stories here.

1. I had just met this girl, and we were talking on the phone. I told her I was gonna get the movie Training Day on DVD that week, as it was JUST coming out on DVD.

She was like "OH MY GOD, THAT MOVIE WAS GREAT! I can't believe that
[Show spoiler]Denzel got killed at the end"

and I was like "What the hell? I haven't seen it yet!" and she's like "Oh, sorry, but I couldn't believe
[Show spoiler]he got shot like that"

I hung up and never spoke to her again.

2. I read somewhere, I can't remember where, that this guy and his girlfriend was watching The Sixth Sense, and
[Show spoiler]like 5 minutes after Bruce Willis got shot, she leans over and says "I bet Bruce Willis is really dead".

hahaha, this reminds me of The Simpsons, when Homer and Marge come out of the theater after having just watched Empire Strikes Back. They're walking right past a line of people waiting to go in and he says, "Who would've guessed that Darth Vader was Luke Skywalkers father"? Everyone gets upset and some guy makes a remark about him spoiling the ending. I guess that was you huh? XD

P.S. Avatar spoiled Avatar's ending because it ripped off Dances With Wolves from the moment it began.

I had a boss that didn't know I hadn't seen The Sixth Sense. He blurted out whats up with Bruce Willis' character. I watched the movie, but that definitely ruined any surprise for me, and that was the whole point of the movie, was finding out abot him.

My friend had a funny story about the Sixth Sense...he and another guy were doing some construction work and the guy asked my friend if he had seen the sixth sense. My friend was like no, the guy started going "ohh man, you gotta see it, it's totally crazy, it gets..." my friend was like stop right there, I don't wanna know ANYTHING about it, I hate when movies get spoiled. The guy kept trying to just interject little comments about how cool it was. My friend was finally like, "seriously dude, just stop, I don't wanna know anything about it." The guy went, "ok, ok. I won't say anything. There's just a wicked twist at the end."

So of course watching the movie the whole time he was thinking about what the twist could be and figured it out at the beginning. I hate when people say stuff like that - "I'm not gonna say anything...but the ending is awesome, what a twist."

If it makes you feel any better, I didn't know the ending going in and still didn't really like the movie very much.

Have you seen both Avatar and Dances With Wolves, or do you just think you're witty for quoting the same tripe that thousands of other people have said over the last few weeks?

You might want to re-watch both movies if you think they have the same ending. And Dances With Wolves wasn't original either, the whole "going-native" concept has been around since well before 1988 (the year the DWW book was written).

+1.
I agree entirely. Even if someone doesn't give away a particular moment, just saying "oh man, the ending is so messed up" is gonna be giving something away and when that happens to me I try to forget I heard it, but it never works

I agree with that. Even preview ruin movies by tagging them with "You won't believe the end" or "mind blowing twist"
Come on! I don't want to think about that during the film.

Also, I sort of had The Usual Suspects spoiled for me by Wrongfully Accused with Leslie Nielsen
