You may want to temper your expectations: the original mix is quite front-heavy with the occasional surround effect, similar to the mixes for the Back to the Future films. Disney's 7.1 remixes just spread the existing soundfield a bit like the 5.1 DVD remix did using the original 70MM 4.2 soundtrack as reference.

For Zemeckis fans I'd say Contact was the first film of his to go all-out with aggressive surround sound.

Wait where did you hear this? Oh never mind, will we get all the DVD's extras plus new ones?

I'm okay with the cover, it looks nice. I just feel like the picture is scaled a little too small, I would have preferred to see it a little bigger with that nice red color as a boarder around it. Nonetheless, I still approve and can't wait to own this film. One of my top ten favorite films of all time!

Probably won't happen in the US but other territories could be possible.

It'd be really nice if that were a cutaway slip, with the full picture behind it.

Amazon has two different listings for WFRR? (Two different stock numbers), both at the same price. Anyone know which is which?

Looks almost the same as the last DVD release from 2002/2003. Was there an official press release announcing this date?

Now do you need it or do you want it? A difference in the two.

Well, I definitely need it for an upgrade and I definitely want it for that HD transfer. So both
