I just have to draw a line somewhere, especially now that exclusives are pouring out of the retailer woodwork, much as it sometimes pains me.
Yeah, I don't even have kids, LOL - yet I couldn't see myself wasting the money/space on an entire extra set just to get a 15 minute DVD extra that will be easily viewable on YouTube, and that I would watch once at most.

$2/minute for a DVD I'm only going to watch once - yeah, I'm OK on making the decision not to do that, ;-).

HBO decided to go cheap with Boardwalk Empire Season 4 and used a different material for the box and it wasn't as tall as the other seasons so it didn't match up.

I'm worried this will be the norm from now on. I'm pretty OCD and just want my boxes to match up with the first three seasons of Game of Thrones.
Eh, I wouldn't worry just yet. Boardwalk Empire does != GoT.

I understand the concern as they are made by the same folks, but I'm sure GoT sells many times over the amount of sets that Boardwalk Empire does, and HBO knows how many folks buy them up simply for the alternate packaging versions, so I'm hoping for the best.

For me I'll buy all the sets during release week, keep the bonus discs and sell the extra complete sets when the price rises. That way I get the extras at zero cost.

Tyrell, Martel, Tryell, Martel...tough decisions! LOL.

I normally don't go after packaging, but I like the Best Buy ones, and it's convenient for me to get to a Best Buy on release day. I just have the standard editions of the first two seasons, and I picked Lannister last time so I may even go for Targaryen this time as I don't have it yet.

If given the choice of all 3 I'll probably go Martel since Oberyn was my favorite character of the season.

In any case, I can't wait to watch the Blu-rays. I have the raw digital recordings of the first run on my TiVo, and they look great - but the Blu's still always blow me away, particularly the sound.

So long until next season...thankfully I've been occupying myself with the books in the meantime, but I'm almost done with them, as well!

Same here. Those Martell and Tyrell covers are ugly.

It's only because the seasons are so short. The BD release is following the normal release time of coming out right before the new season like with most other shows.

so far ive gone by who has been important that season, so this is pretty tough for me, i wish they would release new covers as i would have most likely gotten another targaryen, but makes no sense with last season having the same cover art.

Hold on ... I see people still talking about a Walmart exclusive? Because I can't find one listed on their site and in past years it's always been up by now. I suspect I'll have to find a way to get the Target bonus content and Best Buy disc, but I hope there isn't another one (for OCD's sake).

For S1 I got the Walmart, Target & HBO discs. For S2 I got the Walmart and Target discs. And for S3 I just got the Walmart disc, because the Target exclusive was stupid (and available on YouTube nearly a year prior).
