I've sold about a hundred dvds in the last year and only two of them never showed up, so it could have been worst I tell myself. :P
I politely ask the buyer to be patient, copy/pasted Canada Posts Yellow level alert and ask to wait for a week or 2. Normally I wouldn't mind a refund, it sucks but it happens, but currently i have 3 open claims today alone and 2 other that messaged me yesterday. Usually i'd take the hit and move on, but thats 5 potential claims of 25$ on average. One of them claimed he hasn't received the item I sent and is asking for a refund when i sent it last Tuesday... that's 7 days ago (5 if you dont count the week ends) ... that's just ridiculous, they expect Amazon level shipping for a 20$ with free shipping. Even amazon is struggling to keep up with demands and on time delivery these days, so imagine how Canada Post is doing !

Oh in that case I always ask them to wait at least two weeks after the last expected date, because of Covid and all the delays. But in your case, these guys are just being ridiculous. :/

IMO the real problem is Canada Post not offering affordable tracking, in the US tracking is like $1 extra while here it's like $10+ extra compared to Lettermail. Most buyers are patient/honest, I get maybe 1-2% of buyers claiming they have not received their item and I just refund them and forget about it, it's part of the game.

That really explains the sky-high cost to ship from usa companies to Canada thanks to massive USPS rate hikes. Its cheaper to ship to Canada from the Uk and it seems to be faster as well.

I buy a lot on ebay, but it has been close to 20 years since I last sold there. Everytime I think about using it to unload some stuff, thinking about dealing with lousy people holds me back. It isn't anything expensive, so I either end up just throwing away or dropping off at Value Village instead of dealing with hassles of selling on ebay.

2 other "Item Not Received" claims on the 24th and one of the 25th, I decided to suspend my Ebay sales for 1 month because this is getting ridiculous. Contacted Ebay and outright told me that, if no tracking is provided they can't help me. Gave them a bunch of $h!t for their policies and how buyers can abuse them but still nothing. If I was selling 50-100 items a week I wouldn't bother and just refunded, but when you sell 5 items a week and you get 6 claims in the span of a week, it f'nin sucks! All that money and time wasted, I gave ebay another chance after giving up on it a few years back for this same exact reason, I'm about to sell exclusively on Facebook, going to reach less people but at least I won't have to deal with buyers abusing the Ebay policies.

Man I hear you. Been selling on eBay since 2003 and the experience has definitively gone downhill for people just trying to sell some stuff. I always suspend sales this time of year because of increased volume causing postal backlogs (even in non pandemic years) combined with last minute Christmas shoppers who are completely ignorant to how things work and think they should get everything in two days with tracking numbers. Myself, I’m this close to selling only to Canadians because I have a group of regulars who buy from me and are awesome and it’s such a pain in the ass and a crapshoot when I ship to the States and worry about getting ripped off because eBay themselves are useless and only interested in how they can squeeze more money out of their sellers. And, oh yeah, managed payments f*cking sucks!

I have the same problem here in the states that all you guys are talking about up in Canada. SLOOOOOOOW USPS(understandable-but people are being unreasonable)wanting refunds after a week or 2 of sending out. People have got to learn to be patient-but they won't.And yes-bay itself has gone down over the years(I have been on eBay since 1997)Not being able to leave negative feedback for buyers(but they can leave for sellers makes NO SENSE), Managed payments stinks also-paying through my bank only. It makes it tough-and less fun.

The difference is in the US you guys have the advantage of tracking numbers on media mail shipments so that if something goes missing or just takes a while to get to its destination, the refund doesn’t come out of your pocket.

There is no tracking on media mail in Canada-didn't know that-that does stink!

It's definitively a learning experience, I wanted to capitalize on Q4 sales to finish out the year, but I guess I should've cut the quarter short. I'll definitely follow in your footsteps and suspend my sales around the holiday season next year to avoid the "I don't understand how shipping works" crowd and it'll minimize the claims over the holiday period.

Here's the summarized chat session I had with Ebay Customer Service, I litteraly felt my IQ going down and my hair going grey.
- Can you help me with this claim?
- Do you have tracking info?
- No, I don't do tracking since it's 15$ here in Canada and the item sold was for 10$
- Can you go to your post office to ask for a delivery confirmation?
- In other words you want me to go ask my post office clerk for a Tracking number?
- Yes with tracking number we can help the seller.
- Why would he have a tracking number and I wouldn't since I didn't pay for tracking on my item?
- If you get a tracking number we can help you.
- Do you understand the reason why I'm here chatting with you or are you going to continue copy & pasting answer.
- I understand the situation, but without tracking we cannot help.
- I have 600+ feedback rating with 0 negative in 19 years of being on ebay and over 400 transactions since March 2020, all of a sudden before the holidays I transformed as the Grinch and decided to scam people for fun and having to waste time I could spend with my family responding to claims of which I have no control off because THE WHOLE SYSTEM is delayed for holiday and pandemic reasons and Ebay doesn't do anything about this. Where does my 15% fee on every sale go? It's clearly not in customer service, because as a seller I have no recourse but as a buyer i'm a god.
- I understand the situation, but as I mentioned before without tracking we cannot help.
- You know what just never mind my question, you clearly lack any sort of common sense, congratulations on becoming a robot. I'm out.

I closed the chat and I went to get an ice cold beer from the garage and just sat there for like 2 minutes thinking to myself, WTF just happened?

Oh well, hopefully it makes some of you laugh a little bit , enjoy the holidays !!

Hey jcaste, out of curiosity, are you able to contact PayPal and start a claim with them against eBay itself to get your money back?

You can still pay with PayPal but when you sell stuff it's now transferred to your bank account with eBay's Managed Payments, they send you a payment every day or once a week, at your preference. When someone opens a case for item not received/not as described etc., they hold the amount from your balance and if it exceeds your balance, they take it directly from your bank account.

We cant anymore, PayPal refers you to Ebay, its a never ending loop of non-sense. I just decided to add 15$ shipping for US order to all my items for sale. I've had better experience with fellow Canadian ebayer which actually understand when I explain to them that we're experiencing shipping delays compared to our "friends" in the US who seem to suffer from major urgency to receive everything before they even think they want to order it, patience and common sense is not given to everyone I guess

Noticed a few deals on eBay, there is a Canadian seller who has a sale on these new 4K movies... extra 25% off expiring in a few hours, free shipping, no tax.

Warrior 4K for $10.12 https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Warrior-4K-B...d/264925006274

Red 4K for $12.74 https://www.ebay.ca/itm/RED-4K-Blu-r...d/264842970683

3:10 to Yuma 4K $13.49 https://www.ebay.ca/itm/3-10-to-Yuma...d/264990738939

There quite a few more if you look at this other listings... If you care, apparently the transfer isn't the greatest on some of these, and it's not much of an upgrade over the blu-ray.

EDIT: Seems like the sale prices are still valid!

Thanks for this, Coolcicada! I ordered 3:10 to Yuma 4K and RED 4K, even though reviews of the latter’s PQ aren’t stellar.

EDIT: I also added Kick-Ass 4K used for $14.24.

A seller has the 4K Daniel Craig collection for $48 CAD with shipping included and the option to send a best offer.

https://www.ebay.ca/itm/007-THE-DANI...D/274636619462

Usually for $60 on Amazon, except for that one day with the price error.

Those were a lot of price errors that one day in November then lol I thought it was more like a "clearing out old stock" flash sale
