The following has been cut from the US edition of the film:
- Evel Knievel is not among the celebrities frozen in cryo-stasis alongside Austin.
- Right after one of Dr. Evil's security guards is crushed by a steam roller driven by Austin and Vanessa, we don't see the security guard's family being notified of his death.
- After another guard has his head eaten by ill-tempered mutated sea bass, we don't see his friends, hosting a surprise Bachelor's Party at a Hooters, being notified of his death.
- Austin's fight with Random Task is shorter: we don't see Austin reaching for a knife, a candlestick and a coral rake during the fight. And after Vanessa hits Random Task with a champagne bottle, Austin should say: "Smashing!".
- When Austin and Vanessa are taking photos of Random Task holding Mr. Bigglesworth, Austin says "I never forget a *****... cat". The pause between "*****" and "cat" is much shorter in this version. This scene is not only edited differently, it's two different takes.
- The scene where Basil introduces Vanessa to Austin is little bit shorter. In the European version, Basil says to Austin "Be careful" and Austin replies "Thanks!".
- The scene in which Christian Slater plays a security guard who's hypnotized by Austin Powers and ordered to go buy him some orange sherbet, as well as his very brief apperance at the end during the collapse of Dr Evil's hideout, have been removed.

That list doesn't include some of the other small changes to the film. Vanessa's phone conversation with her mother is a few lines longer in the UK cut as well.

The price on this set is just absolutely nuts right now. $17.99 at Amazon for all three movies.

That's why I ordered it at once, with shipping less than 20 euro's to the Netherlands for 3 movies!

Vewwy interesting...

A lot of these show up on the deleted scenes. I know the bold are for sure.

Default First film - wobbles

So I just looked through the 13 pages here to find 10 pages of pre-discussion of the release and 3 pages of people complaining about slimcases, but not a word about the transfers of the films.

I just bought the first film through Amazon (never liked the 2nd and 3rd).

Anyway, is it just me, or is the print of the film used for the transfer wobbling distractingly throughout?

Just flip through the film and look at the first few seconds of any chapter. The image wiggles and moves about. The burned-in titles are the easiest way to see this, as they seem to dance about on the screen, but the entire image is in constant motion. Any static shot has a constant sense of vibration.

This can't be just my disc, it must be the transfer. What a shame, but I guess with a nearly 15 year-old title it's not shocking.

Default Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery - transfer wobbles

I posted this in the general thread for the trilogy boxset, but it seemed to get lost there.

Is it just me, or is the print of Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery used for the Blu-Ray transfer wobbling distractingly throughout?

Huh... telecine wobble? Is that normal for transfers of late 90s films? I usually see it more in films in the early 90s and back. Bit of an oversight on New Line's part.

sorry if this has already been asked, i tried to read all 13 pages and couldn't find anything about it, i was wondering, does the first film have Spanish subtitles, i know the other two do, but i don't know about the first, i understand English perfectly, but my friends don't and i sort of like to watch movies with friends and it's no fun when they don't understand anything! i wanted to order from Amazon since it's so cheap but i am not sure if i should! the Blu-Rays have not come out here in Mexico, the only domestic release we have is the second one, the first one is not available and the third is only here as an import!

I'd also like to know if these are the US version edits.
Or if they've been restored to their international edit/runtime...

Didn't one of the movies have an alternate "scooby doo" ending?

That was a Kevin Smith film, maybe Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

To each their own of course, but I've watched the first one and didn't think the PQ was poor at all. Not demo worthy of course, but there are plenty of other Blu-rays that have PQ much worse. The image is free of any dirt, specs, and such.

I only really want the first film. However the UK version has been DNR'd to death it seems, and if the US version is cut then I won't want that one either.
