I don't mind some stats, but its not the gospel of the marketplace direction. I just don't see hardly anything online that is definitive as facts, only different perspectives from online expert sources (not YouTube types) on what's new and possibly might advance this Home Video discussion. You yourself can determine the viability of what you are using and what you need in the future.

I tend to listen as much/more as watch a movie.
Same with Alien and Aliens for me.

My interest in film is NOT fading. My interest in PHYSICALLY owning a film is. But then again, my interest in physically owning anything that's not a necessity is fading. Ever heard of Spring cleaning? It's when people spend their Spring cleaning their house and getting rid of accumulated stuff that they bought and no longer need. I've went through that too many times in my life and it's annoying. And that's why I try to be more and more selective in what I physically buy.

Um, I never told anyone not to buy discs. In fact, if you love buying discs, then I encourage you to keep buying. For me, they've done no purpose but collect dust because I rarely have a desire to watch a movie more than once. In fact, if you also like collecting baseball cards, feel free to do that as well.

You do what you want, I respect that. I do what I want, you respect that. That's all I'm getting at.

And even though the name of this website is Blu-ray.com, we should still be posting impartially.

Preach. I recently went back to watch the Tom Hanks / Ron Howard trilogy of Robert Langdon movies on UHD. I liked them the first time around, but really appreciated the 2nd time through mostly because of the new mixes on all of them. Side note, the last one Inferno, had an unbelievable Atmos mix. Not the most bombastic movie, but a perfectly balanced mix with great pans, placement, and clarity.

If I did have a house, I'd use the spare room as a HT room with a HUGE TV and BIG surround sound speakers. Why do you think my name is MrHT? I still like HT, but I just want to watch different movies on it and not the same thing over and over.

Lets not cast away practicality. If ones's living space is restrictive you just can't always find a way. Also your priorities change later in life, so you enjoy what you accumulated, and tend to more particular to what you add to your modest collection.

Depends on the eyes and ears of the beholder. Items below were installed late 1984 to early 1985. This was in a 1250 sq. ft. condo with a family of 3. In those days I would do just about anything for money to support my habit.

Since when is watching any form of content losing interest in film? Film is not physical media, it is owned by the studio, and through whatever medium you enjoy that film, you are still a fan.

Wendell you do know that this Blu-ray.com caters to both physical media and digital content. The topic also concern both. If you can't elicit opinions one could say you lack flexibility to learn to pros/cons of all what we support here.

I tend to think a film fan would seek the best quality presentation.

If I was a fan of muscle cars, I would want to see the best restorations.

If a music lover has only heard MP3 then they are still a fan but they have no idea what they are doing.

Why can't I say that? I'm not saying anything wrong or insulting people. And I don't think it was such an offensive thing to say nor did I think it would anger people.

I think people who use both discs and steaming are the ones most vocal about how much better discs are.

Because we see the difference every day.

I have the ATV4K and use it for lots of stuff - live sports, occasional tv, stuff I’ve never before heard of but want to check out.

I use both and it only reminds me which one is far superior

It’s odd.
Without those people coming here to this site and giving their point of view about why they prefer digital, and no longer buy discs, then this thread would be absolutely pointless... If you are here because you want to talk to other disc collectors, and don't want to see comments from people "telling others that collect discs that they don't buy discs anymore", then this thread should be closed by the mods right now

You guys do know as sales for PM goes down the prices will go up, and I guess that is one of the reasons you want people to keep buying to keep the prices stable. True Collectors want the best, and rare Movies and TV Shows, also OOP. These items will be costly, but with Deep Pockets you guys should have no problems!
