I'm pretty sure the Salvatore brothers were never sealed up in the tomb, either in the novels or the show. As the beginning of the show says, their "family" comes and goes to Mystic Falls periodically, which wouldn't be possible if they were trapped inside Katherine's hole.

Katherine is one of the older vampires and knows Mystic Falls well, she probably knew far enough in advance what was going to happen so she could take precautions.

Sorry, I was referring to all the vampires. Stefan and Damon obviously weren't trapped in the tomb.

I can tell you that there'll be not one, but two major deaths by the end of season one and that the two goners often have overlapping storylines. Any guesses?

Just as long as you do know these books came out in the 90's. The show has gotten really, really good and puts Twilight to shame.

Hey! I like the campiness of Twilight (and hot guys) and I don't own a purse! lol (although I did own a murse at one point in my life, but we won't talk about that )


Vampire Diaries was ripped off by Stephanie Meyer no doubt.. she must of read the books then gotten her own idea.
I haven't read any of the books for either series, I just like watching.
