Have Anchor Bay ever done any steelbooks or included slips with their BDs before? In any case, packaging is the least important aspect of this (or any) release.

^ it's still nice to have, unique packaging can make it a more appetizing buy. I know I am more enticed by special packaging. I'm not saying I'll buy shit just if the packaging is nice, but for collectors of that type of thing it's a great bonus, no reason to be dismissive of another's interest.

Unique, cool packaging is definitely a plus - the Alien egg, Walking Dead screwdriver head, etc - but when we're talking about slipcovers, that's a different story. When a new title is announced, and people are speculating about transfer, extras, or price, it just boggles the mind that they'd be just as concerned (or concerned at all) about whether there will be a piece of cardboard copying the cover design placed over the case. Especially with those ridiculous and tacky Universal ones covered with ads. Madness.

Thankfully we all don't think like you, or me, or him, or her, or them...etc etc.

Cundey-supervised transfer, check.

Now let's get the original mono audio in lossless and the TV cut (integrated into the R-rated version of the film) and Anchor Bay will have my money.

I don't care if Carpenter supposedly doesn't like the TV footage or not...the scene with Loomis and a young Michael sitting there, staring out the window is incredible.

Slow, methodical, silent zoom-in on Michael, staring...zoom-in on Loomis...back to Michael...

"You've fooled them haven't you, Michael"? Back to Michael, back to Loomis...

"But not me". Back to Michael, hold, then black...cut to 1978. Fantastic scene. I can't watch the film without that.

Heh. It'd be funny if it still wasn't as blue as the THX DVD, 'cause the Halloween nerds would send the forums into meltdown. And, more often than not, new transfers tend to take into account the colour timing trends of the present day (like what happened recently with the Cundey-lensed Jurassic Park) so what price an orange-tinted and/or tealified Halloween? People have been going on about a new Cundey-approved transfer for years, but I'm reminded of the old phrase about being careful what you wish for...

Well this news changes everything for me. To know Dean Cundey is over seeing the new transfer? Day one buy for sure.

Agreed. They look nice and all, but not buying a Blu-Ray because it doesn't have a piece of cardboard attached to it is ridiculous.

Agreed, I alluded to this earlier. I'll actually be surprised if this release has the same color as the THX DVD. I can envision all of the "Where is all the blue?!" posts.

On any rate, at least we know this is what he wants (today) and it's not like the original Blu-ray release where the color seemed more arbitrary to what the technician wanted.

Scary, but sadly this is very possible. Hopefully it will be what it was on the THX DVD, but we won't know until we see it.

So, I wonder when the release it due to come out, what extra features will be on it, what the packaging will look like, and all that stuff.

Good thing this is a general release, and not, say, limited to 3,000 copies with some bizarre coloration.

Does that version have all the fall foliage.I hate that it looks like summer on the bluray.

Yes it does.
The BD and 25th Anniversary dvd are the ones without the color filters. With Cundey supervising this, I'm excited to see how the film is supposed to look and expect no less than that from him. It will probably fall in between the color scheme of the BD/25th and THX dvds.

What would really be a great extra is an isolated score track, but I'm not holding my breath.
