Nice disc overall. Best looking presentation of the movie I've seen. There is a good amount of scratches and debris but it looks very filmic and not processed like previous releases.
One strange thing I noticed about the audio. In the shot on the boat when George comes upstairs to tell Peter about the engine trouble, the music doesn't cut together properly and the line "Hey Peter" is removed. This anomoly was not present on previous versions. My guess is that there was no audio available for this shot so they just looped the music to fill it in. Otherwise a great release and I'm glad they were able to do a new scan from the negative. |

I was just about to say the same thing before I double dipped with this one. Want to onow if its worth it. I already have the documentary on my Cannibal Ferox BD.

I would keep the SS disc too for the exclusive content which includes some interviews and footage that was used in Dr. Butcher, MD. |

Me too, I was sorely disappointed to not only find it not as a bonus feature on this release, but they didn't even port over any of the footage or relating extras from the US blu, meaning that it will still stay in my collection for that reason.

So, I finally got my own copy! On that note, much like Story of Ricky, I'm going to try to take screencaps that match the caps-a-holic comparison. But in the meantime, it does look mighty good and mighty grainy. I love how the booklet inside clearly states that no DNR was used
![]() EDIT: All right, FINALLY got around to it. As usual, here's the link to the caps-a-holic page: http://caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergleich...ID=268#auswahl (ironically the German disc has the same transfer as the US disc) And here are the caps from the 88 Films version: [Show spoiler] [Show spoiler] [Show spoiler] [Show spoiler] [Show spoiler] [Show spoiler] [Show spoiler] [Show spoiler] So, without a doubt, when it comes to detail, 88 Films beats the bejeesus out of Shriek Show. Grain and shadow detail stripped away from the US disc has returned onto this one. However, while shadow detail is indeed stronger, the black level can be a pinch on the grey side. Still better than crushed blacks. Meanwhile, the white levels do get a bit on the hot side (especially during the "evinrude zombie" scene, where the sunlight bounces off the ocean) and the colors can be a pinch faded from time to time, but not terribly so. Overall, this is the most filmic presentation I've ever seen of this movie. Much like Story of Ricky, it could be a bit better, but not much! Last edited by OldPangYau; 08-05-2015 at 12:27 AM. |

It is great to compare the 88 Films version as it's clearly superior to any of the previous versions, I was impressed by what they've achieved. |
