United Kingdom Zombi Holocaust (indiegogo)

This is your opportunity to be involved in the remaster of Zombi Holocaust from the OCN.

What we plan to do

We began 88 Films with some HD debuts from Charlie Band's Full Moon Pictures enterprise - including PUPPET MASTER and SUBSPECIES - and now we embrace all sorts of sanguine-packed pot-boilers, from Troma's THE TOXIC AVENGER to the slice and dice sickie GRADUATION DAY. Coming soon, however, is one such work of video nasty era genius that we really want to deliver in a pristine new uncut print - Marino Girolami's masterpiece ZOMBI HOLOCAUST.

Also known as DOCTOR BUTCHER MD we have big plans for this classic flesh-feasting favourite, including a new feature length documentary: EATEN ALIVE: THE RISE AND FALL OF THE ITALIAN CANNIBAL FILM which highlights new interviews with such genre giants as Ruggero Deodato, Umberto Lenzi and Sergio Martino! Yet, we also have a dichotomy - as a team of two, with limited funds, how can we give you ZOMBI HOLOCAUST in the condition that you demand? The current transfer, as seen on the USA BluRay from Media Blasters, has been roundly criticised. This means we want to go one better - we want to give you a fresh presentation from a new scan of the original negative.

As such, we offer you this IndieGoGo - with some GREAT rewards - so that ZOMBI HOLOCAUST can finally be remastered in eye-wateringly awesome HD, and brought to you with the love and care that 88 Films wants to deliver.

What your money will finance
New HD transfer of the Original Negative without digital tampering
Dust and scratch cleanup and removal of damage
Full shot-by-shot grade
Restored English dub soundtrack
Italian soundtrack with newly created subtitles
Even more additional goodies (if we exceed our financing goal)

Goal of £7,500

Totally gonna do that!
I don't think the film is that great but I just love those small horror & cult labels and I love knowing those weird trashy movies are available in high quality

I have the US release of this guilty pleasure, and along with Burial Ground the existing HD master leaves much to be desired.

I'm very happy to support an upgrade!

I'm going to copy your post and share elsewhere (unless you don't want me to?)

I'm up for it, though it's kind of a bad month to this kind of fundraiser, one would think?

Can't remember the deal with Indiegogo - if they do not meet their goal, do they get to keep the money, or is the money returned to you?

The Level 10 deal sounds promising: £500 for 2 LE BD's of ZH, a t-shirt, your name of the slipcover and in the restoration credits, and the next 50 BD releases (!) from 88 Films.

Oh, well, Christmas is coming up, so I'll probably just end with the Level 1 deal.

It says that it's "flexed funding" meaning that they get the money whether they reach their goal or not.

And I agree that this is a bad month to start this. I just dropped $130 yesterday on preorders and still have a lot more to pick up.

I can't afford a great deal, so I'm just going for the £20 option. That's still a lot for a Blu-ray, but I get the exclusive backer slipcase and the good feeling of knowing I've contributed to something many (including myself!) will enjoy.

Question

If this campaign is successful, will "Burial Ground" get similar treatment?

They've updated it to where you can replace the second copy of Zombi Holocaust (in any level) with either a Zombi Holocaust or Graduation Day shirt (medium or large only). They've also added a £40 add on pack with a Garduation Day shirt and your choice of 3 Blu-rays or DVDs.

If they're willing to print more shirts, I wish they would offer an XL size. I'd be all over that £35 level then. Maybe even the £40 level.

Bump - spread word of this campaign as far as wide as you can - 88 Films is already getting cold feet due to low numbers and is thinking of pulling the campaign.

more perks have being added

you can not swap the second copy of ZH for a T shirt and more perks with new upcoming titles

A CUT ABOVE! GRADUATION DAY t-shirt (high quality black t-shirt, emblazoned with classic poster image, medium or large only), ZOMBI HOLOCAUST BluRay (ace ltd edition version with slipcase) and our forthcoming BluRay mega-editions of SPLATTER UNIVERSITY and SLAUGHTERHOUSE thrown into the deal!

To pull a campaign after one day would be ridiculous. You have to give it time to reach people, and they haven't exactly started it on a great day with people focused on Black Friday and Christmas. I'm going to be going for one of the options, but haven't decided which one yet. I may not decide for a couple of weeks.

All too true Sam, and other have pointed this out as the well as the timing - I suppose that compared to the Boro kickstarter, just under 30 backers in the first 24 hours is not quite what they were hoping for.

I have to agree with others here: This was a bad time to start this campaign, and Flexible Funding means I'm not going to support it unless they think they can hit the goal, which is a long way off. With the start date they chose, it also ends on December 27th, which is just as bad, if not worse.

Under ordinary circumstances, I'd have no problem chipping in, but as it stands, I'll be taking a wait-and-see approach.

It's listed as flexible funding, but in reality it is not:

Quote:
IF WE CAN'T DELIVER OUR STATED GOAL OF REMASTERING ZOMBI HOLOCAUST FROM THE IN-CAM NEG AND HAVE TO USE THE EXISTING HD SOURCE THEN YOU WILL BE REFUNDED. OUR FULL INTENTION, HOWEVER, IS TO GO AHEAD WITH THIS NEW SCAN. SO WE DO NOT EXPECT IT TO COME TO THIS!

Agreed - the timing is less than perfect.

But equally if the campaign is not met, then no one can blame them for having to rely on the imperfect Shriek Show transfer. They tried, and if the numbers and interest are not there, they're not there.

Edit - this is the perfect opportunity to give LVR style transfers a kick in the teeth, by essentially stating no it's not good enough; we can do better.

maybe if i get enough overtime in the next month i can help but not now...

I've contributed i've owned the us release since it came out and it really could do with a remaster.

Yeah, they need to give it time! A lot of people, myself included, are hanging on. Money's tight this month! Although, if I can swap the 2nd BD for a t-shirt, I'll go for the £35 option instead of £20 so they'll be getting more from me in the long run.

"Your credit card or PayPal account will be charged immediately upon completing the checkout process, not at the end of the campaign."

Crap! Absolute worst time of the year to start this IMO.

If it was Kickstarter I'd have been all in as they bill at the end
