Not all discs from foreign countries are locked to their respective regions. This database is a great source to confirm which discs you'll be able to view on a Region A player (Just make sure the region code is A friendly). Otherwise, yes, you can certainly buy an All-Region (Or region Free) player; and view any disc you purchase, from anywhere in the world.

If you are a serious SteelBook collector and are not limiting yourself to domestic releases only, then a region free player is a no-brainer.

Any recommendations for a region free player? I know Oppo is the gold standard but I can't pay that kind of money for one.

I don't know how much the Oppo is.

I paid $350 for a region-free Pioneer BDP-150 in 2013 on Amazon.ca.

It is a 3D BD player and has been working daily for me ever since.

There are cheaper ones, but I didn't feel comfortable with them.

If you want 3D - Sony BDP-S5200
If you don't care about 3D - Sony BDP-S3200

If you don't want to pay Oppo prices, choose a Sony at one of these:

http://www.world-import.com/region_f...VD_players.htm
http://www.220-electronics.com/regio...y-players.html
http://www.bombayelectronics.com/All...ayers_s/72.htm

Sonys are as good or better than any other mainstream player and can play anything from any region (which not all can do).

Is there a place to order the inside plastic part of a steelbook? I know you can order bluray cases from places like ebay. Would be nice to just order from somewhere to replace the inside disc holders.

An example would be if a steelbook is only released with standard bluray but you wanted to add the 3D disc you would have to destroy a cheap steelbook to replace the inside plastic part.

I cannot speak for that Seiki player but I do use a Seiki SR212 as my region B player and it works really well. It has an intermittent issue with the IR sensor accepting commands, but I think I read if I crack it open there is a chance the sensor inside the box is not properly aligned with the window on the case.

I have not opened yet and just deal with it when the time arises. One of these days I will take it out of my rack and open it up to see what's what.

Nope.

You have to buy a damaged sb and cannibalise it

Seems like there would be a market for this. Guess it's good there are several terrible movies at good prices.

There is a market. Look at Zavvi's bargain bin SteelBooks.

Also look at dented SBs on eBay. You can't even give those things away.

Picked up this tip from another user on this site and thought I'd pass it on. If you just want to add a 2nd disc, try these:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/100-Clear-Pl...item35b62bef1a

You can either put something under the new hub so that its slightly higher than the original holder in a stacked formation, or you can attach it to the inside front cover. Just remember to offset it so the hub doesn't press directly onto the original hub/disc holder when case/steelbook is closed.

Default Anyone have any luck ordering from HDZeta?

After seeing some of the posts on this forum of the HDZeta releases for some of these steelbooks, I went ahead and ordered the Fast and Furious 7 one they had.

Order went through on 9/16. The shop.hdzeta.com website shows the payment as successful and my CC was charged. The site says 7-10 business days for arrival, which is about right as I've ordered from China before for some other Blu-rays.

After 7 days and seeing nothing, I emailed them. No response. Waited 2 more days and did so again. Nothing.

It's now the 28th and I still haven't received anything. I'm not worried about losing out on my money as the CC company has pretty solid coverage for purchases.

I'm just wondering if any of you have ran into the same problem as I have for your purchases?

Yeah...I know it's only 12 days, just wondering if anyone else had ordered from them. I generally have received stuff in about 8 days from Hong Kong when I ordered from DDDHouse. And even then, they were pretty good about replying back to emails.

Hopefully, it's just taking a bit longer (compared to getting screwed over). That FF7 Steel looked pretty sweet. I wish i could have got in on the FF7 Paul Walker edition from the Film Arena Collection, but no luck. This one's a good substitute.

I've ordered FF7, Saving Private Ryan, Jurassic Park Trilogy, How to Train Your Dragon, and Interstellar (the latter is the only one not shipped and received yet). HDZeta has been excellent each time - well packaged, shipped on the date they said even if it took awhile for delivery.

As with ordering anything from Asian countries, it will more often than not take at least 2-6 weeks before receiving. Be patient, it'll come. Trying to speak English to an Asian steelbook company is going to get you nowhere, especially if you're asking them a question that really only the delivery service will (but in reality won't) be able to answer. This is also why until hdzeta's shop opened up last month, the only way to get these has been through outstanding liaisons like Kevin with Blufans and the gentlemen over at HDN for HDZeta.

Edit: After re-reading your post, I also highly recommend not filing with your credit card company at any point if you want to keep purchasing these. You'll be blacklisted for sure, all the while it was the postal service causing you to panic.

i've ordered from them and the other Asian eTailers, frequently. these are small specialty businesses and if you are this impatient i suggest you stick to more mainstream releases and large eTailers.

Yeah...it's probably the postal service. Having ordered from the region of the world living where i live now...i guess maybe i was spoiled by the relatively quick delivery from other sites.

I also hadn't read of too many people buying from HDZeta's site so I was just hoping I wasn't getting screwed over. Glad to hear you've received your items from them...well packaged and all.
