All of the Jurassic Park movies had a subplot involving a divorce. Think of it as a motif.

Yup.
It's clearly pro traditional family.
It reveals the emotional disruption of divorce on children.
It reveals the selfishness of progressive parents.
It strongly suggests that emotional stability and fulfillment come from following traditional gender roles.
It shows that overly professionalized women end up being selfish and cold and emotionally flat.
It suggests that, since all the dino's are genetically engineered females, that they (the dinosaurs) are a misogynistic symbol that suggests women who don't follow natural gender roles become monstrous destroyers of culture and civilization.
Its why Chris Pratt signed on for this movie.

I'd be surprised if all that was really intentional considering how staunchly Democrat/liberal Spielberg (and most of Hollywood) is.

Could be.
Ya know, hidden agendas/messages appear in film all the time; XMen, Elysium... etc but they're usually like you said, Democrat. Jurassic World would be a first in recent memory that's kinda Conservative in its message.

Just be glad the older sons love story didn't take hold. I really thought it would. First, the not saying "I love you" to his gf, then, flirting with chics at the park... I was getting worried.

I think you invented at least the majority of those "conservative messages" in the movie.

If there's going to be sequels, and I'm assuming there will be... I haven't looked it up.... Why didn't they film em simultaneously, to save money, like what's become all the rage lately?

Yeah, I'm not at all inclined to read any of the Jurassic Park films politically.

Sorry.

True. Not politics.
But, the messages I'm pointing out, are there They are.
That's what writers do.
And when you spend years analyzing films like Lost Hwy, Shining, Mulholland Dr...etc like many do, you can see messages and agendas more obviously.
But JW is not "political", you're right. Think of it as messages about "family" and what the writer is trying to say about divorce, traditional family, divorce, gender roles, selfishness... etc.
It just so happens some Conservatives fall on the same side as these. I think of this film as the anti Hollywood. Not Conservative

I LOVE this film, one of the best films this summer so far. BUT...... I must admit, I HATE this cover art they are currently using. Am I alone in this?

It's just placeholder art, the official one will come along later. There's also Steelbook options available internationally with some nice minimalist art.

I think December 18th might set a record for people calling in sick to work.
It will be interesting to see what happens. Titanic and Avatar had modest opening weekend numbers, but they had legs for days. Episode VII should easily destroy all records for the month of December, but with school, holiday obligations, and what not I'm not entirely convinced yet it will open with a $200 million plus weekend. If it can that would be an even more impressive start than these incredible numbers for JW.

Here is the German steelbook cover for Jurassic World. I like that it's consistent in design with the other three movies. I just wish the Jurassic Park III cover kept the Spinosaurus logo from the original poster and DVD.

Or uh... You're looking into something that isn't there, inventing all your own reasons, and seeing what you want to see.

Trust me. Those are NOT the messages that were written into Jurassic world.

The first thing you learn in college literary classes is that sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

This is something I can never agree with. People can interpret a scene or movie 100 different ways and look for hidden meanings only if it's a small indie arthouse movie? Everything in a blockbuster has to be taken at face value? It seems to me like a lot of people who call these turn your brain off movies dumb do just that when they watch them.

I wouldn't exactly call the agendas behind X-Men or Elysium "hidden." But I'd agree that at least some of the stuff you listed was likely intentional. There's already been a huge debate about how feminist or anti-feminist JW is, among other things, but I'm not gonna rehash it here.

Movies have been "say(ing) things" since they learned to talk, and figuratively even before that.

All I see are images on a screen, I don't know what you're talking about.
