I would think they will go the Blu Ray way - US cut on the US disc and EU cut on the EU/UK disc. I certainly would do it if I were WB sales, so that fans should buy both and I have twice as much money

Yup, there's a whole summer to enjoy first

I've only ever seen the UK cut, I may hunt down the US version, it's easy to find & not expensive. I was going to watch the Blu-ray last night, as I haven't seen the film for a long while, but in the end I didn't feel like being creeped-out, so I looked at One-Eyed Jacks instead. Happy days for us movie lovers.

I'll still buy both, but as Warners have at last acknowledged in the UK that the longer cut exists (it got released on BD a year or two back) then I hope that both cuts are included. I can see them releasing the US cut only in the US though.

I’ll take whatever they give us. Off the top of my head I can’t recall if WB has done any UHDs with multiple cuts on the same disc. Has that happened yet? Seem to recall that it happened with some of the DC movies but I’m not sure.

I think WB has only done theatrical cuts on the format. Superman and The Town come to mind. I’ve only ever seen the NA version and have no desire to see another. I cannot wait to get this. Aside from the holy grail Halloween last fall I was disappointed in the horror releases. I really hope we also get the Exorcist as well.

But they're both "theatrical cuts".

Doesn't have to be on the same disc, Warners have been historically allergic to branching - see Fantastic Beasts 2 for the most recent example of them avoiding it. That's not to say they've never used it EVER (before PeterTHX jumps in with corrections) but way more often that not they've avoided using it.

Exorcist is another one I really only need the theatrical cut for. Can go the rest of my life never seeing the extended cut again.

I actually like it but I could go either way. I’ll just be happy if it gets a release. My 3 favourite mainstream horror movies are Halloween, Shining and Exorcist.

I would love the Exorcist on 4k. The reaction to it when released was crazy unlike
Any film that could be made today.

Regan at the doctors and the spiderwalk scene are more then enough of a reason for me to like the directors cut more then the theatrical.

That spiderwalk is so beautifully dropped into the edit.

Not.

[Show spoiler]

But anyway, if I had to guess, North America will get the U.S. Cut and Europe will get the International Cut because that's what Kubrick intended for each region to see in theatres and he has this reputation that's long outlived him as a perfectionist refusing to compromise (even though he shot movies in open matte with home video in mind and only cut The Shining after its poor reception in the U.S. anyway).

Or maybe Warner Bros. just doesn't want to try branching, also possible

Don't forget the UK has both cuts available on disc at the mo. However, If I need to buy from both territories, so be it.

Don't give them any ideas. Both cuts for everyone.

If they do provide both cuts as default it'll almost certainly be separate discs, which is better anyway.
