With some colleagues here in Italy we made some comparison: all tracks of all countries are affected. Discs, streaming, WB or Universal it does not matter, dynamic range results heavily compressed. We listened original track at theater and it was definitively stronger. For not well clear reason, who prepared home video master for all countries applied a dynamic compression at source. As said previously, it's not first time - other cases exist - and will be not the last. It's shameful that on a movie which made of sound level its main feature, the treatment caused a total flattening of the output. FKB |

Someone with a K needs to compare for us, then.
EDIT: Sorry, I didn't see the text ABOVE the video. Ok, so it's across the board? That's a shame. Last edited by starmike; 10-24-2024 at 03:30 PM. |

I have my blind bought copy of Twisters 4K in hand and still have not seen it but after viewing the short scene in the video above I just have one question. Roughly how close are these guys to the "fireworks tornado" in this shot?
"Are those fireworks?" ...."Yep" Because man, these guys seem awfully calm, cool, and collected given it appears this tornado seems to be only a ~mile or two away. What is the next line in this scene? "Lets shoot over to Starbucks across town and grab a coffee while this sht plays out."? |

How do you think fireworks went up in the tornado in the first place? |

Is it possible that there is a hidden DD 5.1 track on the disc? It could sound better.

I will also send a message to Universal. They were great in getting Love Actually improved and the issues with Promising Young Women fixed. As always, the more messages the better and it won’t take long for everyone to make their voice heard.

I watched this on Tuesday after work with pizza. The movie I thought was ok but not as good or impact as the original, which I did rewatch for the first time a couple months ago. I also didn't think that was as good as I remembered. But I thought it was more fun than this. Maybe this just didn't feel different enough, I'm not sure. The special and practical effects were really good though (also true of the original, give the technology at the time). Everything looked really real so no complaints on that. Some of the tornado scenes have really cool action, but I think this is kind of the highlight on the movie. I didn't connect with any of the characters. This does have a little more on the science which I appreciated. (Not that what they do to stop tornadoes would work, but aside from that.)
It has a very nice Dolby Vision picture and is pretty good for a UHD. I think the sound is the highlight here though. i used headphones and all of the sounds effects (wind, crashes, etc) were all really good. There's a blu-ray but alll specials are on the UHD so I never even popped it in. Moreover, all specials are in 4K! (but SDR) Possibly upscaled but they're 4K on the disc. There are a couple of long, 15-20 minute making of featurettes and then a handful of smaller ones. These are mostly pretty good and there's a lot of interesting information about how they captured these shots, how the sets were created, and locations they went to. I do recommend watching those if you get this. I think the movie good enough to at least watch once but I'd recommend renting before buying. I don't see myself watching it again. |
