Nice EA.. If you would want to get the platinum trophy for the game you bought new at say Best Buy... you have to buy DLC. And to top it off, if you want to have a place to store gear/items for later use you have to buy DLC. I wish I had known this before I bought the game. I have nothing against DLC but when you gimp a retail disc just to make people pay for standard things it's out of hand. The game has DLC the same day it comes out for christs sake and one of them is a ruse to get a chest to store stuff in, all for the low cost of 7 bucks. The $65 I spent isn't enough to get something that basic?

sorry I'll end the rant.

I thought the excuse for the DLC was that it couldn't fit all the contents on the disc. Well, not on a dvd disc.. blame microsoft

So why can't you get the DLC if you bought it at best buy?

I can, they dangle the carrot of Dragon blood armor and Shale for free, you just have to spend 7 more dollars to get the complete game(Wardens keep). I hope people don't fall for this or soon most if not all game will be gimped and to get the whole game you have to pay more. DLC should be new maps/quests after a game comes out. When you have DLC codes in the game it's nothing more then a moneygrab.

Edit: about the blame microsoft, ya they started it. EA see's them charging people to be able to play online and wants in on that. Bioware is ex microsoft, of course they would have the nickel and dime mindset.

Not sure if you are serious but you don't mind paying for something that could have easily been included in the disc you bought?

If your a mage you might consider what ever difficulty level does not nuke your party.. after killing my entire party time after time I had to lower it to turn off friendly fire.

Do not button mash, pick what 6 skills you want on your thing, remeber what they do, your radial menu is your best friend it seperates one use kills from sustained ability. Opening the menu up pauses action, take your time your not in any race.

Button Mashing is counter productive, as your characters generally auto attack and the other buttons mearly serve as abilities.

I keep changing my characters. Can't figure out what I want to play.
Remember the game has multiple party members who can serve any hole you have in your party.

Good Mage | Evil Mage
Good Warrior | Evil Warrior
Good Rouge | Evil Rouge
Golem | Dwarf

I'm here at the PC, because the DLC is taking forever. By the way, what's the Dragon Plate? I didn't get a code for that, and I don't see it at Playstation Store.

Actually, I was just checking out the trophies, and it looks like it doesn't matter what difficulty you play to get platinum. I'll probably just start on hard. Like I said, I don't want to be frustrated.
ehh never really cared much for trophies its all about gameplay...

I'm still not sure I've got a good grasp on the controls, and the menu system is a bit cumbersome, but that will improve. For instance, I've encountered a locked chest with my Dwarf Warrior that I don't apparently have skills to open. At this point, I'm not yet confident that I have tried every angle available.

The environments are not rendered as nicely as I think they could be, and that's slightly disappointing, but not every game can be one of the best in its generation, and the story is developing nicely. That is enough to keep the interest. Games like this are like reading fantasy fiction.

Looking at the trophies, a platinum could take a very, very long time.
Yes as soon as you awake from the swamp head to the town just a little north and visit the inn there you will pick up a rouge who can open chests for you.

Only set the skills you find most useful on your hot toolbar.. actually the radial menu dates back to neverwinter nights so I found it as a old friend..

In your experience, then, there will be chests, doors you can't open at all, unless you're a rogue? There is no key here so far. I have just accepted an invitation into the Grey Wardens, and I am newly on the surface as a recruit simply wandering around. I don't want to waste time looking for things I won't find.
Locked Chest 9.9/10 will require a rouge its unlikly that a key will be used on the chest, keys are one of those OMG a key opened something experiences. Unless you plan on doing a very boring rerun of every area keep a rouge in your party.

To get a rouge to open a chest switch to your rouge and go over to the chest and try to open it.

You sorta have a uphill battle first your calling the devs liars, and good luck proving them other wise. First you would have to proove that the content was made by the main team and purposely removed, and not handled by a dlc team working alongside the other team.

Your next feat would be to proof that its q/a could have happened at the same time as the game was being q/a and could have made it on the disc without delaying the games main q/a to be placed on disc.

You next have to prove that there was some other reason for this instead of grand conspiracy from the consumer..

Like the shale dlc the devs said that had to pulled from the disc because shale was too large to fit in doorways and it was causing q/a issues while they were considering to shrink him down.. that delay would have delayed the main games burning to disc so they decided to pull him and read add him as free dlc with disclaimer that they gave you as he was intended to be part of the game.

You could say that was a major scandal against the used video game market.. but then you have to prove that.

Thats all fine and good, they gave us codes for the excuses you mention. Still the fact of if you want a platinum or a chest to store stuff in YOU MUST BUY DLC. Unless I can get Wardens Keep for free somewhere and I'm not aware of it. Face it, good game gimped to make you spend more money. Also if the qa was saying it's glitched why did they release it anyway?

Sadly me also.. but when you require DLC being bought to get the platinum trophy for a disc you bought, crossing the line IMO. And the other fact of this wardens keep.. that you have to buy it to have a place to store gear for later use. It's a basic RPG mechanic, you have a place to store gear. But this game you have to pay 7 bucks for it

I won't and hope everyone else will not put up with this.

I bought the DLC without even knowing what it was. lol.

I've gotten used to not having a place to store stuff and just selling it off to the shops (thank borderlands for this).

Can you point me at confirmation that it takes Warden's Keep to platinum this game? Or the Stone Prisoner for that matter?

Easy, buy the game and look at the trophy list when you put it in. Shale(Stone Prisoner) and dragon armor they give you but Wardens keep is 7 bucks if you want that trophy. I'll admit I'm not sure but since it is a trophy on the retail disc, I'd bet the house you need it for platinum. If I'm wrong why even list it at all? let it be it's own dlc.

Edit: and you get away from the point that if you want the basic RPG function of storing away gear you can't yet use and coming back to get it once you meet the requirements, 7 bucks. To buy the Wardens keep DLC that was available the same day the game came out.

Burnout doesn't require the dlc packs for platinum(though having it sit at 65% doesn't look very attractive). (A little off topic but just had to say it so we can end that conversation).

Many games don't. But that is on the retail version disc, I have quite a few games not 100% and platinum trophies. Cause the DLC came out AFTER THE RETAIL DISC YOU BOUGHT.

Example Fallout 3, I'm 61% done with the platinum.. that is because I was 100% then some DLC came out. My gripe is having DLC trophies and basic funtions of the game excluded to make me pay 7 bucks for what should have been included anyway. Hell the camp could easily have my tent/chest but that is free and they don't want that.

If this is Bioware let them be 'other' exclusive. I expect my games to be complete when I buy the disc.

According to ps3trophies.org you don't need the Warden's Keep and The Stone Prisoner DLC to get the Platinum.

You would have to play this game 4 times to get a plat. Or is there a way you can hook up with more than one person through 1 playthrough.

It's not a question of falling for it or not. Everyone knows it's nickel-and-diming. You just have to decide whether it's worth it. I knew about this content before I bought the game. If I was offended, I wouldn't have. Irrespective, it's such common practice that it can hardly be considered a big deal or problem exclusive to EA or Bioware.

Generally, I don't think about it that much. Games are luxury purchases. If an extra $15-20 breaks my budget, I probably shouldn't have forked over the first $60.

I usually don't either, but when I find a game that I want to replay, having something fun to play for increases the interest. I personally own only one platinum.

I'll take your word for it and admit I'm wrong on that.

"Generally, I don't think about it that much. Games are luxury purchases. If an extra $15-20 breaks my budget, I probably shouldn't have forked over the first $60."

That is the mindset that I worry about. They will keep pushing it until you decide I spent enough. Content shouldn't be left off just so they can charge you for it later. Imagine I sell you a blu-ray, you watch it until about 15 min till the end then it stops. I say give me a buck and you can see the end. Ok I already spent the $20, I'll give you a buck. SAME THING.

I asked my question because the 360 achievements total 1100 points, with the final 100 being Stone Prisoner/Warden's Keep.

To me that made it almost certain that the Platinum did not require those four trophies, and it seems I was right.

Good to see confirmation on this.

Not so much. You can still play the game without the DLC and the DLC doesn't really affect the storyline of the game. Now if they charged me DLC for the ending of the game I would be upset.
