Arrow is having an "Easter Carnage" sale, but everything seems to be the usual discounted rate, that isn't actually very discounted. Might still be worth a look for anyone interested.

Of course, you have to make sure all the disks you're buying will play in the US. Or have a region free player.

Most Indicator disks are Region B. Not buying a region free player has saved me a lot of money by keeping me from importing Region B disks!

Actually, all of Indicator's Region-B discs can be played on Region-A Panasonic players, thanks to the Top Menu trick...

So true, and THANK YOU forum for alerting me to the hack. Picked up a Panasonic and am now enjoying amazing sales like Powerhouse's.

Here's today's haul, and some math ...

AN AMERICAN TRAGEDY - L $12.00

and then all the following at $5.34(!) each via the 4 for 20 sale

BARTLEBY - LE
BUFFALO BILL AND THE INDIANS
LA LLORONA - BD
SECRET CEREMONY - BD
THE CRIMINAL CODE - BD
THE PHANTOM OF THE MONASTERY - BD
TWENTIETH CENTURY - BD
GEORGY GIRL - BD
A DAY IN THE DEATH OF JOE EGG - BD
EXPERIMENT IN TERROR - BD
FANATIC - BD
5 AGAINST THE HOUSE - BD

Subtotal $76.08
Shipping (US & Canada Parcel Tracked Shipping) $21.00
Total $97.08 USD

Even with the crazy postage and the one $12 disc, the average cost for the 13 blu-rays was just $7.46 shipped apiece. Incredible, especially with all of Powerhouse's great special features, and flying halfway around the world to get to me. Them's Hamilton Book prices!

Off topic ... In my (comprehensive) annual personal film awards I've given Best Picture to Sherlock Jr. , Blue Velvet (RIP Master), and Out of Sight. (As well as runner-up to Full Metal Jacket.) Excellent avatars above, gang!

Yes, with all the uncertainty at work, I would have foregone any other sale, but I really do love these Indicator releases. This order was crazy cheap for newer titles even with the shipping.

Love me some Al St. John. Just rewatched all my Arbuckle/Keaton Collections over the past month and they are so fantastic. Glad to see an avatar that celebrates that guy.

since the T3 (Trump's Tariff Taxes) went into affect this week, I wonder if any UK orders not yet arrived in the US will be held up at customs and tagged with the US tax surcharge, which we will have to pay in order to pick it up at our post office.

This scenario will occur, it is just a question as to how fast customs will comply. I wish everyone can get their recent orders before this insanity hits.

Awesome. I have two orders that arrived at customs yesterday. I'll update if I'm forced to pay anything.

There is a de minimis exemption from paying customs duties on shipments with a value of under $800. I guess that's why UK disks can be so cheap.

That de minimis exemption is disappearing in May and June for shipments from China and Hong Kong, with minimum $25, $30%, and 50% customs duties on shipments form those locations.

I'm certainly not a customs attorney--and these things keep changing daily--but it looks at present like the de minimis exemption remains in place for small shipments from other countries.

Of course, with the chaotic roll out and constant changes on various tariffs and trade restrictions, that could change tomorrow. So if there's in-stock UK disks you know you want now, better to order right away before the rules change some more!

I was leaning towards placing an Indicator order but if I get hit with a surcharge after ordering I know I would be salty. If I ordered and they shipped right away I would maybe risk it but they even tell you to expect long wait times because of the sale. By the time the order ships who knows what the hell will be going on with everything.

Anyways, I hope the people who did order get their stuff without having to pay extra.

That is my concern. The only thing I want from the UK now is a preorder. By the time it ships, who knows if I will have pay more?

Even if I buy from a site like Diabolikdvd, they say "All customs charges/taxes are the solely the responsibility of the purchaser. Diabolik will never reimburse such charges. Any discs confiscated by customs (for international customers) will be solely the responsibility of the purchaser. Diabolik will never refund money due to these circumstances."

So no price protection there either.

I opted to include a June pre-order so as to help towards getting free shipping. Probably gonna cost me plenty by then…

I just may have to cancel and re-order with some other things instead. Guess I'll be doing some math this weekend when I get a little more time…

(And then there's my Radiance sub…)

Is talking about announced tax implications for our hobby considered political? Whether you support these taxes or not, no matter who you voted for in the last election, I see a direct impact on the increased cost of physical media which will directly impact our spending patterns, and the ability of some of the smaller companies to survive. If that isn't appropriate to discuss in a bluray forum, then I do not what is...

I will coninue to support the smaller retailers, especially when I have confidence they'll get me my stuff undamaged. But, at the same time, I'm not going to go broke doing it.

Bit the bullet and got an order in to Goodwood (CA) this afternoon for some cases.. who knows what they'll be going forward.

Good luck to everyone. These are strange(er) times.

My order from the Powerhouse Sale:

Six titles (once you have 4 titles on the 4 for $20 offer you can add other titles from the offer at the same discounted rate of $5.34)

Shipping was $15, so the cost per title including shipping is $7.84. not bad at all.

There are plenty of other retailers in the US not crying chicken little like Oribt so I'll spend with them instead and when the dust settles over the coming months I still won't be shopping with Orbit.

Funny that the physical media retailers located in any of the 170 countires around the world who impose tariffs on the United States don't feel the need to post these disclaimers on their homepage.
