Hmmm, the size of this page doesn't want to fix itself.
It seems that the picture of George Michael above has no sizing fix; it is large and it remains large. I don't remember the last time I saw pictures or screenshots not resizing themselves. Anyone else experiencing this? |

^same here.
So I watched entire JPIII and yeah, it's fugly. It's an obvious old master with phoned in HDR grade and flat colors. What's most ridiculous about it is that there are some shots with CG that have better contrast and nicer looking lighting than many shots without CG! What a MESS. The best looking part of this film is the scene after landing. With the true restoration based on 4K scan you can really quick tell the difference. Grain, contrast, HDR, colors. That's not the case with JP and JPIII! |

Maybe that's why they are charging only $49.99 for all the four movies on 4K?

I've had some time to think about the movies I've watched on the OLED and getting used to just how good it is.
I thought JP1 looked okay. It was uneven with some shots looking good and others a bit too clean. Still my favorite by far. Spielberg knew how to amp up the anticipation to ridiculous degrees here. Love this movie. JPII was fine. Nothing to write home about, but I was okay with it. JPIII, It's my least favorite out of all these so I didn't bother with it at all. Jurassic World - Looked pretty fantastic. It's a silly movie, but a fun ride that I can enjoy. |

I compared the raptors in the kitchen sequence at the start and although the lower APL of the UHD does make it seem a little dimmer, the kitchen is not super bright in the SDR Blu-ray either. (This is me watching at about 140 nits peak luminance in SDR though, I think you prefer a higher backlight for SDR?) When she flips off the lights there's still plenty of light streaming in from overhead (note the windows to the top right of screen) in the SDR version and it's just the lower portion of the frame that gets darker, this is true enough of both iterations. That scene has never really been a "dark" one as such. |

Three more to go.
Two with Jurassic Park franchise, and most likely many more if the $ is there. |

It's a good time to be a professional 4K Blu-ray movie reviewer.

I'm going to get my copy of Annihilation (shipped USPS) before I get my JP Steelbook (shipped UPS), and it shipped a day later. I wish companies would stop shipping with UPS and ship more with USPS.

I just finished JP1...and I just don't understand what everyone is complaining about. It looked fantastic. It completely blows both the 2D and 3D blurays out of the water. It is perfect? No. Could it have looked better? Possibly. But damn if this still isn't a helluva upgrade. The detail, the colors, the contrast...it was all excellent. 4.5/5
People are actually boycotting and/or returning this set because of the picture quality? People actually dare to say they prefer the look of the bluray? WOW. I'm sorry, I really don't want to insult people, and there's no accounting for preference or taste, but come on. If you're a fan of these movies, you need to just buy it and check it out for yourself. Do not rely solely on people's reviews. Last edited by Bond84; 05-27-2018 at 12:04 AM. |

That being said, the set is really cheap for a new 4K box set. The transfer isn't like The Matrix restoration but it also isn't 30 bucks for one film, so there's that. But man, Universal just doesn't catalog that well. Well we have the same TV so I guess that's not the reason we disagree ![]() |

Random comment time: The 2:1 ratio on JW was AWESOME. Perfect combination of height and width, the borders seemed to melt away in a darkened room and it's like I was looking at a floating frame.
