I got passes to one of the advance screenings on Wednesday night. It's first come first served and I haven't gone to one of these preview screenings in many years. If anyone has any recent experience...how early do people start lining up for these things? I was planning to get there at 5:00 for a 7:30 show but now I'm thinking that may not be early enough to guarantee a (good) seat. Thanks for any advice!

For a film like Wonder Woman, I'd get there 2 hours early minimum. When it comes to big blockbuster films, fans will show up ridiculously early to come find theres only 30-40 seats for actual patrons.
For DC films, I've noticed they tend to have less and less available seats for us regular folk at these screenings. For Man of Steel, 250 people showed up and only 37 seats were open. For BVS, 400 people had passes, 40 open seats. I didn't even bother with Suicide Squad. |

Glad my theaters have reserved seating. Can walk in when the previews start.

I guess that's one benefit of living in a smaller area. Even for the biggest films, most people don't show up until 20-30 minutes before showtime, so if I get there almost an hour before I'm the only person and can grab a great seat. I only hate then having a longer wait until the movie starts. The Force Awakens was the only movie in 16 years of going to this theater where I still had a line to wait in even an hour early.
I hate the concept of assigned seating, though. If you get stuck next to somebody obnoxious or somebody with kids who can't keep quiet/sit still, you're screwed and can't move anywhere else because you might wind up in a seat reserved for somebody else. |
