Yeah, I really liked SCREAM '22. Nice tribute to Wes, as you say, and it really felt like an old-school SCREAM film. I was disappointed with 4, I felt the killers were weak. 3 is slightly better, IMO. But I think the new film is tied with the original as the best in the franchise.

Totally agree - Scream ‘22 brought back that Scream vibe I haven’t felt since the second one (and was even more in line with the first tone wise). Everyone loves 4 but it’s the outlier for me - it’s the only one in the series that doesn’t really feel like a Scream film and more like a cheap knock-off. Excited to see what they do with 6.

For me Scream 4 was fun, but like you say didn't really feel like it fit in with the others. I liked some of the stuff in it, but I feel they kind of cheaped out on the killers.

Scream 3 was fun with the Hollywood stuff, it was fun seeing the set and getting some backstory, but again it wasn't as strong as the other three movies.

Like Winslow I think Scream 5 was very close to the original.

Had Scream 4 come out this year, the killers' motive would've actually made sense. With so many youngins of today just wanted to become famous, without the hard work, Jill's motive is what I imagine most of today's brats are like.

Now, killing people just so Hollywood will make a better sequel? That is so dumb it will never age well and will likely leave a stench on the new film as time goes on. I gotta think the motives in the killer(s) in Scream 6 are better than that.

Sorry, thumbs down from me. Some effective sections early in the movie but generally a hot mess.

Scream 3 may have been a massive disappointment after the first two (which are still both absolutely brilliant all these years later) but it maintained a sense of fun so I've always given it some additional slack. There's some gold in there

[Show spoiler]

I rewatched 4 recently and aside from the asinine multiple Stab openings, it holds up pretty well as the fourth film in a franchise.

But 5cream? Jesus. Throw a rock and you'd hit Scream fan fiction better than that. Ironic, given the
[Show spoiler]killers' motivation.

I don't know what they're planning for 6cream, but firing everyone involved in this one and bringing back Hayden Panettiere would be a good start.

How does anyone get right back up after getting the crap beaten out of them in movies? It’s weird to single out just this moment.

If you are going to call out these specific things you must not watch too many movies. This stuff happens in SO many movies it’s not specific to just Scream 2022. Just enjoy the movie lol.

Yeah this is just nitpicking at this point. Thinking way too hard on this as most movies don't follow physics unless the plot requires it. Its...fiction.

Scream 3’s main problem, aside from
[Show spoiler]killing off Posey’s character, the only one with a pulse from that awful Stab cast, though I did enjoy Jenny McCarthy’s lead-up to her character’s death (she cracks me up)
is the neutering of the violence and stakes. What should’ve been the most resonant of the killer reveals is gutted by lethargic editing and no real set-pieces save for that absolutely ridiculous (and super fun) death by fax sequence, haha.

It’s Craven at his least enthused, and I like it, but it’s just not anywhere near 1-2 and 4, and 5 creaks right above it for that surprisingly stellar Hicks’ family set-piece (it angers me but I have to admit that it makes the movie for me).

Dally’s order is mine too, as I put here I think a dozen posts back.

Remaster 2, Paramount, THANKS.

Scream 3 boils down to two things, no Kevin Williamson and Weinstein's dictatorship playing politics amidst Columbine controversy. Scream 1 and 2 were massive hits, and that means more studio suits muscling in on Scream 3. It always happens that way. Scream 3 turned out better than it could have considering...

The Scream franchise is really heavy on characters with plot armor. They take all kinds of punishment and don’t die until the script says so.

To me, I find Scream 3 the most rewatchable one. The opening scene, the set pieces and the reveal were all great. I loved Jennifer Jolie and Gale together and Dewey was much more protective imo. Scream 2 is still my favourite but I can’t deny my love for 3, and the whole series tbh.

Y'know one of the things that bugs me about 3? Why not go all out and bring in as much of the Stab cast as possible...Tori Spelling, David Scwhimmer, etc? Why do we get saddled with a bunch of nobodies and Parker Posey (Who is awesome in the movie btw)?
