Looks like we get an insufferable man for this thread just like we had in the Godfathers thread.

Just finished watching the movie. This is definitely one movie that needs to be watched in a pitch black room.

Night Heat.

I lowered my brightness and got rid of the daylight scenes.

The only Disney UHDs that I have seen are Hocus Pocus and the bastardized versions of the Star Wars OT. All four were really dark. I then put the BDs of the Star Wars films that came with the UHDs on and they looked better. I no longer own the Hocus Pocus and the Str Wars films were borrow. I think I will stick with the BD of Heat.

My disc is messed up around 18 minutes when it cuts to the diner. Tried to clean it, no dice. Called bestbuy, and they refunded me as they have that goofy open media, no return rule, so I wanted an exchange originally. So I reordered it through amazon this time.

I just thought that was his junk on the loose again, peaking out from behind as he tried to conceal it with his arm......That's Val's story, and he's sticking to it. They darkened the transfer to cover it up but you can STILL see it a little...

No way around it.

We keep dancing around the simple fact that this 4K HDR transfer is NOT mastered properly....

Now everyone can keep attacking me because Mann can't be wrong and I'm not a director....
I didn’t have to change a thing. Huh.

Perhaps they're referring to people finally disabling ASBL. But that really has nothing to do with Heat itself. It should be disabled regardless.

No other light at all when I watched the first hour yesterday, except the LEDs of my electronics. On a non-OLED TV with no advanced contrast enhancer and features like that turned on, you might see both actors' heads, the brighter parts of their costumes, some furniture, light sources and, everywhere else, flat darkness with no discernible details. Just a flat dark shadow all around. If your TV isn't top of the line, don't bother. Didn't even have this problem with the much maligned Goodfellas, which I found lovely on this limited display.

Most retailers use USPS to ship movies, books, CDs and other media because it's cheaper. For large merchandise such as: TVs, stereo equipment, furniture etc, they'll ship it by UPS, Fed-Ex or DHL. If you order from Amazon, they will use their own private delivery service to deliver your item(s) to your door.

You might see the same in a theater with a weak projector bulb, which they often used to do because the bulbs were expensive. Many theaters rarely projected films properly, especially in smaller markets. So tell us again how it looked "theatrically."

People with Google search sure are funny.

So the goal when mastering for home video should be poor examples of projection? Also, when did I say this is a flaw with the movie? You'd have some kind of point if I had criticized the movie for requiring a pretty expensive TV. I still maintain that it's mastered too dark, but I never said the release is bad because of the kind of TV one needs. I merely pointed it out. In ideal circumstances, I said the release is probably the best it has ever looked on home video. Buying this disc with only an LED HDR10 TV is a waste. You won't see enough of what's there. I didn't try advanced contrast enhancer, because I know that messes with the picture. When did I say how it looked theatrically? I do wish it looked less digitally manipulated and, being a purist, presented the original version as faithfully as possible, while improving upon it with the improved sharpness (picture being more in focus than in projection, as is typical) and HDR.

Weird post. Fight pickers sure are funny.
