Yes I could carry on but it would literally just be me naming unpopular movies that I think are better than popular ones.

But that's all this thread is.

To be fair, that's a pretty good reason to make a film.

It says something about my viewing preferences when this is the thread I post most often in!

A Clockwork Orange is not as clever as it thinks it is. Its the sort of film people say they like because they think they should when really its OK to just think its pretentious garbage that is actually saying very little.

I'll have to disagree with you there. I think it's a perfect mirror up to our society, in fact. Then again, I think we read the Burgess novel in AP English before I saw the film. It was at least very close -- we're talking decades, here. But if someone wants to hold a mirror up to who and what we are, I think it's a perfect vessel.

Actually, it amazes me that Burgess saw all of this about a half-century ago.

This is not an opinion. It's you making half-assed assumptions about the taste of other people.

Try again.

Because when it aired I was watching it every week with the same group of friends, and every week we spent more time discussing the show than actually watching it.

I don't know. It certainly isn't for everyone.

He saw how society would dominate the thinking of the public, to the point where society itself began to fall apart. It's sort of like looking at social media from the outside now.

Fair enough, never read the book so will take your word for it. The movie is still a turd dressed as a Mars bar though.

Heh We'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

But I will say, however, that unlike many it is not my favorite Kubrick film.

That's how I feel about every Kubrick film I've seen. Not a fan.
