To clear up (or not) the boogeyman line at the end....

The actual script says "It was the boogeyman..."

It seems the majority of people hear "What's the boogeyman?" or "Was it the boogeyman?"

You can't really make out the "It" at the beginning and her delivery comes across more as "Twas the boogeyman".

Either way, it's really interesting because it totally changes the ending depending on how you hear it and what was said.

Laurie is basically coming to terms that Tommy was right and it WAS the boogeyman. Loomis confirms she is correct.

The other way, she's asking Loomis if it was the boogeyman and he confirms it.

I like both I thought it was the latter for all of my life until now.

Just watched this yesterday and all seems fine to me (including the audio ).

Being a "regular" Halloween fan, it's been a while since I had last seen this. It's definitely less "autumn looking" than I remembered and quite frankly, I actually liked that look. It's what I always remembered from those first scenes on the street with Laurie and her friends talking. So at first it took a little while to get used to, but if this is closer to the intended look, then that's fine by me.

As for the movie itself, I really enjoyed seeing it again after so long! Will be watching it again this month and do a back to back, as soon as I have received my Halloween II steelbook edition from Scream Factory.

I always thought the 2007 Blu looked "brighter" and a bit "colder" than the THX DVD -- not as warm.

Checking back after a ton of pages.

Still no "subsequent pressings will have the ORIGINAL mono" message from Lionsgate?

Yeah. I don't know why people are talking as if they have the same timing. They certainly do not.

lol @ Lionsgate repressing a disc. Expendables 3 and Ender's Game are LITERALLY BROKEN and they didn't even replace those.

If you could see me, I would be shrugging to display my indifference. A mono track is available with this UHD release. Is it the original mono track? No, apparently not. Is it a lossy version. Yes, it is. The differences between this mono track and the original are incredibly minor and superficial. Also...the hill some choose to die on is lossy vs. lossless...mono? Seriously? If you believe you can tell the difference with a 1978 mono source you are only fooling yourself.

This is a beautifuly done catalog release. If this doesn’t make you happy, nothing will.

It's not about lossy vs. lossless; it's about original mix vs. remix- a very different story (not that a lossy track should be acceptable on UHD, either).

Which is why I mentioned both “issues.” The differences between the original mono and the one included with this release are minute.

Why does original audio even exist? Why is it in the big Halloween box, for example? Why does this topic come up so frequently? Why do people need to have it explained again and again?

There’s no way Lionsgate will “fix” the audio issue on this disc. Anchor Bay didn’t fix the issue on the 35th Anniversary when it falsely advertised that it had the original mono, so why would Lionsgate when there isn’t any false advertisement? A couple years ago I asked Anchor Bay about the mono issue and they thought I was talking about the audio sync issue on the Halloween 4 disc.

There is no purpose at all for a 2.0 downmix of a surround track to exist. The purpose of including a mono track is because it is the ORIGINAL mix! Only in this case it’s not! Simply chalking it up to ‘its a mono track and the differences between that and the original are minimal’ is no excuse because the mono track on this release shouldn’t exist to begin with. Do I think the release will be fixed?? No. However saying the differences are minor when people have been able to list specific examples where differences are apparent is no excuse to just say it’s good enough. Unless its the original, the mono track on this release is pointless.

It's always weird to me that Shout Factory includes a downmix on all their discs for movies that were 5.1 originally. Like... my equipment will downmix it, and only enthusiasts go into the sound menu in the first place. It's just an odd thing to do IMO.

I regularly pick a 2.0 mix if available because my parents’ TV is hooked to stereo speakers, and I don’t find myself turning the volume up/down as much.
