See, I really can't imagine owning that many movies. How on Earth would anyone ever find the time, to watch them all on a regular basis? If you're not going to watch them, then what's the point in having them? It would take me several, several years to collect as many films as most people have posted on this thread. At the moment, I have about 40 Blus, and maybe twice as many DVDs; that's it.

I don't get why people knock on other people for how many movies they own. What's the big deal? Some people spend a lot of money on music or sports memorabilia. Others invest a lot of money in customizing their cars. We all have our own passions.

For some of us movies are a passion. I can't imagine not owning a movie I love. Oh and as dedicated film lovers we MAKE time to watch them all.

Maybe you don't have something in your life that you love that much. Sorry.

If I am off for a long weekend I usually get some people over, a keg of beer, and hit up about 10-12 movies in a 4 day span.

See, while I understand where you're coming from, I would certainly watch what I say in a "Post Pictures of Your Collection" thread. A lot of people are no doubt going to view that as criticism, which you should never criticize the majority. I have over 450 titles in my collection and I look at all of them as a library of classics, best picture winners, personal favorites, classic cinema, world cinema, independent, and other genres. Just because I own more movies than I can watch in a year doesn't mean that I don't cherish every one of them in some way. Mind your choice of words.

So what? Let them think what they want; I could honestly care less. I'm not out to condemn anyone, but I'm not going to be held responsible for their reactions, either.

Says who? I've practically made a full-time hobby out of criticising things I see as foolish. I don't use my comments in malicious or cruel ways, so its not my fault if someone reacts badly.

Congratulations; you're officially a collector. I honestly don't care a lot about other's viewpoints regarding a film's popular status and such; if I like it, and I know I'll watch it a lot, then I buy it. It's really that simple. If I'm only gonna see it once or twice a decade, then to me its not worth owning.

Just got back from school yesterday and haven't decided where I'm going to put my movies during the summer, so I've just got a box o' blu right now.

The reason I buy movies is mainly due to the s**t that passes for television these days.

I've obtained several new slipcovers over the last month or two. My goal is to own every slipcover for every BD that I own that has one.

Yeah, I really haven't watched a lot of first-run TV in the last few years. I've been a "Smallville" fan since 2002, but I've even wound up missing a lot of this past season, too (I am catching the 2-hour finale next week, though). As for what movies I buy, most of them have been upgrades to prior DVDs, because there's not really a lot of current films that catch my interest anymore. Of all the movies that came out in the 2009 & 2010 calendar years, I saw a total of 17 of them...and of those, less than 5 are in my collection. The last recent Blu-Ray release I bought was "Voyage of the Dawn Treader", and the last catalogue titles for me were "Another Stakeout" and "Michael Jackson's This Is It".
