I feel it's appropriate at this point to announce that I didn't manage to get my shitty Sony TV... instead I got a shitty LG TV (LG50UK6950PLB)... can I still be a member of the shitty TV club? I've paid my dues and everything.

LOL! I don't know where that is coming from, but don't feel bad about buying something you enjoy.

I have an ultra budget TCL tv that I bought at Best Buy. Sure, it's not a top of the line set, but it does do HDR10 (no Dolby Vision though) and 4k, so I am happy with it, especially because I got it cheap.

With a lot of 4k HDMI stuff in a state of flux, as well as tone mapping not having reached a "standard" of any sort as of yet, I know that I will eventually upgrade down the road anyway.

After things have settled down a bit, I will feel better about dropping more money on a nicer set. In the meantime, I am enjoying my 4k discs and not sweating the fact that my tv isn't the best on the market. Sure, I want an LG OLED, but I'm happy with my set at the price I paid.

At the end of the day, it's your money and your enjoyment that you have to worry about. Unless you're ultra wealthy, someone will always have a bigger house, faster car, larger movie collection, nicer tv than you. It's just the way life goes.

No need to feel ashamed about buying what fits your budget and makes you happy. Enjoy your new tv with pride and for your own personal satisfaction. If you're happy with it, then that is all that matters.

EDIT: On topic, I went to Wal-Mart, Target, and Best Buy tonight and did not see a single copy of this with the slip. Wal-Mart didn't have any copies (that particular store sucks for movies though) and all the copies at Target (several there) and Best Buy were without slips. I found it rather odd as this release isn't very old and I can't imagine that any retailers have had to re-up their stock so quickly. I'm glad I got mine when I did, instead of just waiting until I saw them on shelves.

Default Price tracking on website

What is going on with the price tracker feature on this site? It has disappeared from all the title listings.

Exactly. I usually take notice of your posts since I know you have the same KS8000 that I do. And Geoff also because he has a great handle of the technical ins and outs.

It depends. You need to watch Goodfeathers' UHD on your crapola TV and then get back to us, only THEN can yon crapness truly be judged.

Yep. As much as Geoff's TV broke the bank it doesn't seem too far off from ours either, if his summaries are any judge. I think people with high-end LCDs can basically trust each other's reactions, while people with 2017 or 18 OLEDs can trust each other, people with 2016 OLEDs, people with cheaper LCDs, etc. etc.

I grabbed a 2nd copy of this and none of the issues I had with my original disc are present here...hardly suprising considering it appears I was the only one who was seeing that weird shite over the first few minutes.

Huzzah!!

Bad batch? Bad disc?....gawd knows!!

With that said, the increase in detail and improvement in highlight and shadow rendition on this 4K transfer is to my eyes immense, and I find myself unable to go back to watching the clearly less detailed Blu-ray, despite preferring the color timing on the older disc for **some** scenes. I just don't know what the solution is. This transfer is just way too dark and lackluster in so many key scenes, yet the overall detail is so much better on the 4K that it's difficult to simply ignore it and go back to watching it the old way. Why can't they just get this right? We need a 4K transfer with more punch to the image.
Precisely my thoughts on the matter!

It plays fine on my X800 - from what I'm seeing here on the boards, the X800s have been hit or miss with some titles.
So far I've had no issues with mine besides a couple of titles freezing - but once I cleaned the discs with a microfiber cloth, they've played fine.

I have an Xbox One X but my first copy of Halloween wouldn't play. The replacement copy works fine. There are a few other reports of people being unable to play the disc on here as well.

I suspect there was a bad batch.

Maybe the mystique of the "Producer's Cut" or a campy pre-fame Paul Rudd performance?
If you don't like 2, you may be in for a long set of viewings lol.

Original, 2 and H20 are tops for me. I also enjoy 3 & 4.

The rest ? Good luck.

I almost with you on that.

Original is my favorite horror film of all time. 2 & 3 are some favs, sometimes I'll take 3 over 2 just because as I got older I appreciate 3 much more, when I was a kid in 1982 I hated 3 for the simple fact no Shape. I would love to revisit H20 again, its been years but what is the best available version without buying the collection as the rest in the series I don't like at all.

Good luck finding it in store, both Target and Best Buy (for price match). I think $14.99 from Amazon is fair enough.

That's a killer deal for those who haven't picked it up yet. I highly recommend it to any film fan. Halloween rises above the title of just being a great horror film. It's a great film full stop.

IMO, the 4k transfer is excellent, don't let the chatter about the original mono track missing stop you from getting this release. It's quite well done and the included BD has the original mono track if you want to do some comparisons.
