As a big fan of body horror, I have to say Hellraiser and Videodrome are both fantastic. And personally, I always viewed the first Hellraiser as more of an indie art film, so it might surprise you.

Body horror can be hit or miss for me. Whilst I enjoy some stuff that can be classed as body horror - Alien, The Thing, The Evil Dead, Possession, Tetsuo - I think I just have a problem with Cronenberg specifically.

I've seen Videodrome and didn't really enjoy it, but there are some interesting parts I did find something in - but mostly the snuff tape stuff, more than the overt body horror sequences. I've only seen parts of The Fly, Naked Lunch and eXistenZ, and actually had to turn the latter off because I just couldn't get into it. I think I might give the other two a go though - I love Jeff Goldblum, and a Burroughs adaptation sounds more interesting to me than an original Cronenberg idea.

I've never seen Hellraiser but been vaguely aware of it since my teens (I think my sister went through a phase of watching extreme horrors). Not really interested in the sequels since I hear the first is best, so may well go for that in the end. I think I was only really considering Videodrome for the extras (particularly the roundtable with Carpenter and Landis, and Cronenberg doc with Alex Cox and others).

I see Arrow are teasing their Friday announcements with an image of Wolf from Gladiators. It's not Wolf (Indicator have that), and I guess it could be anything involving wolves/werewolves or even something like Fulci's New Gladiators (but why not show several in that case? Why Wolf specifically?). Given that we know some Chiba is on the way, I suppose it could well be a hint for Wolfguy: Enraged Lycanthrope. Is Hideo Gosha's The Wolves out of the question? Or even Bergman's Hour of the Wolf?

Cronenberg body-horror isn't for everyone, but man all those films are at the top of my loves list. Videodrome especially is just so amazing IMO, one of my favorite films. I totally get why some don't like it at all though. Divisive films are the best IMO, because when they are made for you it can hit all the right spots. Most films today are made to try and appeal to everyone on the planet, which results in being made for no one specifically.

I wouldn't really connect Hellraiser with Cronenberg though. I get the general idea of that, but they're very different styles trying to say very different things. Hellraiser is basically a great haunted house movie and family drama with themes of domination, submission and BDSM. Videodrome and Cronenberg's other early works are more about what it means to be human and how technology changes that.

Doubt it's Bergman, being an Arrow Video tease. Who knows what it'll be!

For the Arrow Academy tease, it seems to just be a stock photo of a desert and/or sandstorm. Could that mean The Night of Counting the Years (aka The Mummy), or perhaps The Desert of the Tartars?

I wonder if the hint might be for one (or more) of Naschy's Waldemar Daninsky films? A few of these have already been released in Germany, some not English-friendly however. Judging by demand they'd certainly be good sellers.

Ken Russell's Salome's Last Dance, in which Wolf from Gladiators appeared.

No, wait, that would be silly.

I don't think I've ever seen an Arrow release in my local Tesco stores, they have other BDs, but no Arrows. My Sainsbury's only has about 5-10 BDs available depending on the week.

He was also in the spectacularly awful The Bruce, with Oliver Reed. I think we'd all cry if they ended up releasing that!

I have got my fingers crossed for Wolfguy: Enraged Lycanthrope!

Movies4Men like it so much (or hate their audiences so much) that they keep repeating it. I think they should stop, before they cause any lasting damage.

I certainly hope it's the Chadi Abdel Salam film. That would be great.

Well, Fran Simeoni did Tweet about that but I still think he was referring to the Criterion US release out next month. We'll see!

That's the one, also known as Al Momia - it was restored by the World Cinema Project in 2009, and have ever seen it but would certain like to. Barely any North African/Arabic cinema on UK Blu-ray and I feel like that should change.

Rapta I believe you mentioned Wolves, Pigs and Men (1964) a while back in relation to the broader hints of more Fukasaku and a Japanese film from 1964. That would also tally with the Wolf hint.

Hey take a few letters from that and we have The Big Sky (Howard Hawks)! Highly unlikely for several reasons (not least as I believe it's with Warner Bros), but it would be most welcome given that it hasn't even had a proper DVD release outside of France.

It's a great film. Salam also made a short film after it, which should be mandatory to include in any Blu-ray release of The Night of Counting the Years. It's also listed on the WCP page.

And yeah, I also hope we will see more North African/Arabic cinema, UK or not, because there's poor representations of African and Arabic cinema on Blu-ray overall, even worse when it comes to older films.

It could be a US only release of Wolf Creek.

Michael's Movie Database shows that Wolf Creek was discontinued on all formats by the Weinstein Company this week. Could just be a coincidence.
