Agreed....they were Great! Went to see Priest for the 10th time, but basically to hear Halford's vocals. No Downing or Tipton on guitar was Brutal.

Where are you going to see them? Should be great wherever it is. Enjoy!
So do I and way to go Nuclear Blast, originally a 10/4 release date has now jumped a Full month out into Nov. they took their money right away but couldn’t deliver on a long established street date (by a month - did I mention that &#128521. If it slides even further out I’ll probably cancel. As for the album, have to say I like the bulk of it, but wasn’t as blown away as I was expecting to be which is weird because Mike usually doesn’t disappoint (and yeah I love the old death metal/ clean vocal material as much as the next older Opeth fan, however, I’ve actually really enjoyed the “70’s prog homage” era almost the same amount.not sure what it is about ICV that kinda made me shrug my shoulders and feel like I’ve heard lsome of this before. Actually,I think it’s Mike’s vocal melodies and deliveries, there are a few songs where I could swear I’ve got that vibe like I’ve “heard that before”

My set has been dispatched.
I’ve tried to not listen to any of the new stuff so that it’s fresh when I play the 5.1 Blu-ray.

Edit: I received my shipping email last night, but it was shipped on the first.
I checked the Tracking and it’s out for delivery today!

Yeah mine got here Saturday 10/12, so why people on the Opeth and Nuclear Blast forums *****ing about missing the release sate were clearly trolls. Very nice limited edition box set, good VFM for sure. Not as blown away as I wanted to be with ICV though. It's solid (again I'm a long time fan going back to Still Life) and I don't mind Opeth/Mike not writing progressive death music any longer, but some of this album really feels like he is starting to repeat himself a bit...There are some killer track on this but a few that just don't work that well for me, especially Charlatan !!

Sorry if my original message was off target based on sh***y intel.

Just a heads up, the new Blood Incantation - Hidden History of the Human Race (out 11/22 on Dark Descent Records) is a f**king MONSTER of a beast of an album !! Best new(ish) cosmic death metal band on the scene in my opinion !!!!

Default Ozzy Osbourne "Speak of the Devil" concert with Brad Gillis on guitar

I LOVE this concert so much! I love the "Dracula's Castle" stage, I love the lasers (which were pretty cutting edge at the time), and man! Brad Gillis did such an amazing job stepping up and filling in for Randy Rhoads! He had to replace a legendary guitar player, he had 3 days to learn the songs, and he had to play them in front of sold out shows night after night. Talk about a pressure cooker! Anyway, major respect for Brad for doing what he did.

Hell yeah it is, one of my favorite death metal albums in recent memory!! Love this band, and the other big project of 3/4ths of BI, the band Spectral Voice. If you dig cavernous death/doom in the style of disEMBOWLMENT you'll love SV. Eroded Corridors of Unbeing and Necrotic Doom are super sick !!!

Ozzy Osbourne 1982 Speak of The Devil - YouTube
Ozzy was contractually obligated to release a live album called "Speak Of The Devil." The idea was for half of it to be Ozzy songs and the other half to be Black Sabbath songs with Randy on guitar. When Randy was killed, Ozzy refused to put Randy on an album with that title. The record company wouldn't agree to changing the title so he went back out on the road and did Sabbath songs as the encores and recorded those songs with Brad playing guitar.

Maybe turn it down if it’s too loud?

I don’t. I crank it.

Errmm, you might be on the wrong subthread of the Music Forum then, cause metal isn't really created to be "moderately loud"

At this point, thanks in large part to attending way too many ear-bleedingly loud rock/metal shows, I have tinnitus so your way of doing it probably makes more sense, but F**k it the damage is done and I'm too old to stop now (although I have recently started to wear ear plugs at certain shows I know are going to be insanely loud ...

I'm damn near 50. My first concert was in 1985. There's been a whole bunch since then. Arenas, a couple stadiums, smaller concert halls and bars. Loud and proud. My hearing is excellent. The music in my home and in my car are listened to at decent levels. If you have hearing difficulties, my guess is that it's because of your personal listening levels and not the concerts you attend. I'd consider taking a look at how you do things if you don't want it to get worse.

I'm almost 54, been seeing live shows since I was 11 years old (Kiss 1979 Dynasty tour was my first), the damage has long been done. I do tend to stay towards the back when i attend heavier shows these days, and frankly I only tend to listen to music lately when I am driving, and yeah I crank it too loud... Partly cause i like it loud and as I said the damage (in specific the tinnitus) is permanent now.

I'm not advocating in any way dong what I've done (I also played guitar in several different bands when i was in my 20-30's and that is where most of the damage likely occurred). If I had it to do over I believe I would have been smarter about using ear plugs/hearing protection when playing live and when attending deafening shows (Sunno))) and The Melvins come to mind !!!!) so yeah, kids out there, USE ear plugs or frequency filtering protection, its the smart way to go !!!

Yeah...back in the 80's nobody worried about their hearing. Especially when playing with a band. You just cranked it up. These days people are much smarter about it. I'm guessing that's mostly because of the number of musicians that have come forward about hearing loss. Also, just about everyone uses in ear monitors these days so they're custom fitted and tuned specifically to you so they don't have to be anywhere near as loud.

Exactly, like I said I would NOT recommended willfully damaging your hearing like I clearly did!!! Tinnitus is no joke, I’ve learned to “cope” with it but have to sleep with a fan running at night for “white noise” purposes so that’s what you have to look forward too if you are always cranking it to ear bleeding levels. I think my car stereo back in the day did the most damage. I think you can get custom molded frequency dampening plugs now but they aren’t cheap.

2020 looks like it will be a great year with many of my longtime favorites gearing up for new music including Anthrax, Carcass, Exodus, King Diamond, Mercyful Fate?, Megadeth, Ozzy, Symphony X, Testament and a bunch more I’m probably forgetting. Looking forward to it.

If people are interested in protecting their hearing at shows just get the foam plugs. Their cheap and it's what they gave me at the hospital to protect my ears while my niece was getting an MRI. They're easy to use too. Just roll them up and stick them in. They'll expand and mold to your ear canals.
