Since the Notrious B.I.G. thread was getting a little off topic at the Blu Ray Release Forum. I wanted to start this thread about hip hop music. You can talk about todays artist all the way back to the legends of the game. Who is the G.O.A.T. of all time? We can discuss it here

Hip-Hop these days, for the most part, is crap. All you need is one good phrase/hook, put a decent beat to it, and then BAM instant success.

Relapse is good. Not as good as Marshal Mather's LP but good.

I agree. I usually end up listening to older albums from the 90's since I can't stand pop stations playing what they call "hip-hop".

Only new album I like to listen, is Q-Tip's Renaissance. IMHO, it's one of my favorites.

Yes, that's why I said for the most part. If anything, what we all know as hip-hop does not get any radio play. It's been corrupted by the "club" hip-hop

damn clubs, this statement is funny because it can be applied to almost every music genre now no matter what you listen too. I feel the same way about what RADIO and MTV etc... call punk these days. Although club mixes have not affected that genre as much as hip hop

Yup, and now for rock/alternative/etc. you hear these days instead of clubs, it seems like they make the music for those mall stores (AM eagle/Abercrombie/etc.)

There's nothing wrong with "club" rap. It serves it's purpose. Make them booties shake. I don't mind it when I go out and drink.

That's true. I don't mind it either when going out every once in a while. However, I don't play that type of music in my ipod or in my car.
