I've been operating under the assumption that this Johnathan Gilbert is the very same from the 1860's. But right now it's one giant question. Is he simply just another John Gilbert in the family and not the immortal one I presumed him to be, or is he really something inhuman? My guess would be if he was anything other than human he wouldn't need that ring, and he might just really be as old as he looks, mid 30's and little brother of Elena and Jeremy's father. But now I wanna know what the good doctor Gilbert's big secrets where. Just when I thought they'd gone and and revealed everything they introduced John who dropped bombshell after bombshell. Nice to finally see Stephan vamp out and stop being so damn emo. He is still my least favorite character but I'm hoping over the next few weeks, he can do something to change that.

Stefan is a lot like his brother but doesn't like it and therefore fights that part of him. Damon is simply a jerk, which makes him less interesting to me. I do think

But you're basing everything on the books you've read. I'd imagine that the show will deviate quite a bit otherwise it'd be boring if everybody knew exactly what was gonna happen seasons in advance. They aren't fake dating, it looked to me like Elena just needed an escort to the dance and probably thought it was going to be Stefan, but since he is vamping out and attacking strange blonde women in the woods, Damon probably stepped in. But not without his own agenda I'm sure. I'd actually prefer her with Damon, but like I've said he's a much more fun character right now compared to his "i hate my life, im gonna cut myself now so i can feel alive" little brother.

LOL yeah the thing is though, I'm pretty sure Elena is not interested at all in Damon, again this is the show though so it could happen. They have deviated from the books I read a good deal and that's a good thing because there aren't a lot of books and it makes the show more unpredictable.

If everything in the books happened on the tv adaptations that would just suck. So I am happy they have changed things and characters, otherwise there wouldn't even be a Jeremy. Elena and Damon would make sure good lookin half-dead chill'n.

Great episode last night! I though John was dead and I certainly didn't expect Damon to kill him the way he did. That part got me by surprise, it was a little scary lol.

I think it's a good thing Stefan craves for blood. If other vampires show up again he can actually defend himself.

Considering who they cast in the role, as soon as his neck snapped I said "Oh alright so in 5 minutes he's gonna walk right back through the door cause he's got a ring like Alaric" and bam, I nit that nail on the head and smashed it through, lol. Very predictable in that aspect but it was still cool to see him just casually toss the body over the rail without thinking twice.

What happened to Bonnie's cousin?

[Show spoiler]Bonnie wasn't originally supposed to be absent for so long but they decided to cancel the plotline with her cousin at least for now. That lead to the big Bonnie hiatus, she will be back next episode though and will be in every episode till the season finale.

Is the Tyler werewolf plotline going to go somewhere anytime soon?

[Show spoiler]Unfortunately, Tyler won't even be in the next two episodes, the episode after that is all about Isobel and then theres just the season finale so they really have no time to truely explore the werewolf plot this season, but you can be sure that it will be a major plotline in season 2!

Did Kelly Donovan leave?

[Show spoiler]Yes, that subplot is done for now, Matt is also taking a break for the next two episodes.

I miss the flashback episodes are we getting another one?

I miss Bonnie, any scoop on her?

[Show spoiler]The Bonnie that returns next week is a changed person, the death of her grandmother deeply affected her. Look for things to get really tense between her and Stefan as she goes all out against their relationship.

Will the identity of Elena's biological father be addressed?

Is the season finale going to end in a big twist?

I hate to admit it, but this is the best show on TV right now. I got into at the beginning and it was somewhat of a cliched teen show, but then it evolved into such a fast-paced, wonderfully thought out and acted show, and it is my weekly drug now. So addicting!

I can't wait for next week's episode. I have to admit, though, that Stefan is so much more interesting being "evil."

The season finale is supposed to be insane! I can't wait; but then again, I don't want it to end.

Oh yes, I know! I just meant it will be ending in May for the season, and I can't go 4+ months without it.
Especially since the season finale is supposed to be an insane cliffhanger.
