Thumbs up

My KINO Rollins Blu-ray collection is up to 9 titles.

Still need Demoniacs, Living Dead Girl and Two Orphan Vampires.

Have The Escapees on pre-order via DiabolikDVD.com

Recently got and watched The Iron Rose for the first time and loved it. Takes it's time and is very graceful.

I think as long as KINO keeps putting out Rollin on BD, I'll keep pickin' them up!

Anyone? Any news about a part two bundle with (I'm speculating since they are the four remaining 'vampire' films) Lips of Blood, Fascination, Living Dead Girl and Two Orphan Vampires?

No info on the second set, but I would buy if released.

[Show spoiler]

Thank you! I didn't know this box set had the individual cases instead of being a digipack. I'll definitely get this box set in the future if I ever pick up the films.

Jean Rollin fans might be interested in this Indiegogo for an upcoming book on Rollin's work, written from a variety of female perspectives. Anyone for a game of Rollin Mystery?

Jean Rollin caught my interest several years ago when Netflix had a bunch of his films streaming. Atmosphere can go a long way for me with horror films, and Jean Rollin's work has among the best I have seen. Even though I really enjoyed what I saw, especially the vampire films, for some unknown reason I have never owned a single one his movies. With Deep Discount's current sale, I have now decided to remedy that. The Vampire Collection box set as well as Lips of Blood and Iron Rose will soon be adorning my shelf. Looking forward to entering into the weird world of Rollin in HD!

Being in a Euro horror mood, I have also ordered the first Paul Naschy Collection from Scream Factory. Naschy was another filmmaker I was interested in a while ago but it was difficult to get most of his movies that I wanted to see at the time. Glad that his films are being re-released in droves lately.

In the past week I've watched The Grapes of Death and Requiem for a Vampire blu and if you are able to own those to your collection go for it.

I own the Vampire set, also have...

The Iron Rose
Living Dead Girl
Fascination which are must owns also.

I want to get Night of the Hunted, Demoniacs and Lips of the Blood - This is one I should already own for sure, I've seen it but still want to pick up a Blu.

These are the titles I own so far.

I read on hidefdigest that the 4 re-released films in the box set have re-done menus... can anyone confirm that?

Quote:
The only difference is the main menu on each disc is now an animated screen with a smaller window showing full-motion clips and music playing in the background.
The other Rollin films I have have a still image for the background and a stylish menu in the bottom left of the screen.

Curious to know how the UK editions will compare to Redemption.

Really? haha what a wasted opportunity

I know there were some unique extras on past UK editions so I thought the UK BD's might contain those....

Also the Redemption transfers are 6 years old, so I thought there was a chance they might use a newer master.

It has been a while since I watched them, so I had to check. They do indeed have animated menus in the box set. The Shiver of the Vampires does have a windowed video clip in the top left, while The Rape of the Vampire has a full-screen animated background. Both still have the menu in the bottom left.
Unfortunately, I can't comment on the other two at the moment, as I have a bunch of discs in the wrong cases, the other two being a couple of them. Getting them properly sorted is a minor project that I've been putting off for quite some time.

Thanks. They must feel these new menus are better? I liked the simplistic tasteful menus on the 2012 disks. Do you feel the newer menus are nicer?

You're very welcome. I haven't seen the individual release menus, so I'm not sure how they compare, but I don't find them too bad. I do like the menu from The Rape of the Vampire a bit better perhaps, which is the surf on the beach in black and white, full screen, as opposed to the small windowed clip. I think the only other Rollin film I currently own is Fascination, though it's been a while since I've seen that as well, so I can neither remember that menu unfortunately.

The German Rollin releases by Wicked-Vision Media are great and - without a doubt - the best releases of his work worldwide. New scans and lots of specials. IMO the best - though pricey - choice for Rollin fans.

Disagree.
Very unnatural color timing on those new scans / German release.
I most definitely do not like the way they look.
