It is. Evil of Frankenstein is my least favorite of the Hammer Frankenstein films. (Yes, I Think Horror of Frankenstein is better.) The Frankenstein make-up is awful! Still, it has some cool moments. Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell is really good, especially considering the tight budget.

I held out for the UK release for this reason.

Sounds good. Yes, the make-up in EoF was really atrocious. It looked like they tried to emulate the classic Frankenstein make-up by Jack Pierce but without the talent to do so.

I rather like The Evil Of Frankenstein. It was the last (I think only) Hammer Frankenstein that I saw at the cinema. The shoddy Frankenstein make-up job apart, it's a good looking movie, with quite an impressive looking lab.

In North America budget label Mill Creek has licenced Revenge of Frankenstein from Sony and released it on a 4 feature DVD set so far (2 of those titles have made it to a double feature Blu). So I'm guessing they also have the rights to a RoF Blu release as well. Though I think their Blus are generally 'A' locked which isn't so good for most in the UK

If they do release it I hope it is region free so ALL fans can take advantage... unlike most of the UK Hammer Blus which are B locked.
It might be an idea to email MC and express interest in this title. I've emailed them in the past and they actually read and responded! They seem to value customer input: support@millcreekent.com

The uncut version was previously presented at special screenings with the following comments from a Hammer forum:

The teeth-clamping scene, the additional shot of bloody arm stumps, extra eye surgery, extra brain-sawing/surgery,
extra organ-throwing and sliding about in blood plus the legendary missing extra frames of the glass-slashed throat!
Plus extra frames of the dead Monster and an extra reaction shot of Sarah that is in the cut, but not the uncut version.
Longest ever version!".

Same as the German DVD I Presume.

I've never really seen much Hammer which is quite shocking given my horror collection/love. I might pick up 1 or 2 of these next pay day.

Maybe Dracula (1958) is a good place to start?

Always a good idea to start at the beginning:

THE QUATERMASS XPERIMENT
CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN
(HORROR OF) DRACULA
THE MUMMY

Yeah that was my thinking, Dracula and one of the others next pay day I reckon. Leaning towards The Mummy.

Default MFH details

I emailed Icon to get some details on the upcoming Monster From Hell disc and this was the response:

The release will be region B locked at 1080 p .

Very best,
Icon Enquiries

Bad news for those of us on this side of the pond that aren't region free
Good news though for others that it is progressive unlike the Aussie disc.

I'd recommend "Quatermass and the Pit" as a starting Quatermass film--the first two Quatermass films have good stories, the problem is that Brian Donlevey makes a terrible Quatermass, and personally I think the story of the third is even better than the first two. Plus of course Quatermass and the Pit is the only one out on blu-ray.

I have to disagree as I didn't find this film as good as someone else had suggested.
I'd say go for your own instict, after reading official reviews along with user comments, and don't get stuck on what some particular reviews might think.

I'd add "Brides Of Dracula" over TQE which even though the BOD Blu-ray is less than ideal (wrong aspect ratio and rough looking print), it's still a great early Hammer vampire flick with Peter Cushing and remains one of their most beautiful looking films and "Vampire Circus" which is one of the better 70's Hammer horror films.
