Thiswas about noon, I found the rack and a couple of boxes with the 3D version. They scanned at $25 the dmr coupon scanned so $22 after tax ood.
Don't get your panties in a bunch. I asked because several people were mentioning different prices. In the end, I drove over to Best Buy and price matched Walmart. Got the 3D version for $24.99. It was supposed to be $24.96, but the cashier entered 99 cents rather than 96 cents. I'm all right with that. It's helluva lot cheaper than $31.99 that's for sure.

I printed out the Walmart ad in another thread and took it to BB and they price matched it with no
hassles. $24.95.

It's too bad that I never received that DMR coupon from Disney... Would've been able to have gotten it cheaper than what I paid for after price matching Walmart.

Got the 3D version at Walmart for $24.96.

A little odd, since it's Disney I figured you'd get the iTunes digital code and not the VUDU. It's just the opposite, my VUDU worked and iTunes told me invalid code.

Plus you gotta sign up to marvel.com and let them hound you for the rest of your life to get the digital music album. No thanks.

Well, I finally got to see Iron Man 3 for the first time tonight. I've heard quite a lot of disappointment from fans about the third one so I was hesitant going into it.

But, I actually enjoyed the movie, although it has a feeling that is completely different than Iron Man 1 & 2. It certainly has loads of comedy in it and lots of action but it skimps out on Iron Man which I thought was a little disappointing. Overall though I still enjoyed it and will watch it many times.

But here comes some negativity:

This unfortunately now takes the place of the worst 3D movie I have seen to date in my opinion. The depth here is VERY SHALLOW. Even during action sequences. This is a pretty dark movie, and like almost all dark movies, that usually will kill your 3D effect and it does here.

All Disney/Paramount 3D Marvel movies to date have been pretty disappointing to me so far, especially the 3D in Thor, but honestly even Thor was quite a bit better than IM3. That should give you an idea for the 3D quality you are in for. I'm sure if Disney would start filming their 3D movies in 3D instead of converting them they would be so much better.

I still am not disappointed with purchasing the 3D version because I will always buy a 3D version over the 2D if it is offered just for my collection. But if you are someone who only wants the best 3D out there, you definitely could skip this one and just get the 2D version. This is the first 3D movie I have ever said this about.

Page 16 where Iron Man 3 is listed on blu ray and 3D. Right under the left side where the picture of Iron man is squatting with his blue orb, it says Free $10 Best Buy Gift Card when you spend $50 or more on TV Titles on DVD or Blu Ray.

You made bank already with the theatrical release...thanks to us consumers who bought the tickets. You couldn't cut us a deal or give us a break on the price of the home release?? Not only that, you have the 3D disc stacked on top of the DVD!!

Very anti consumer Disney!!

Yeah, I wonder who was in charge of wholesale pricing this time at Disney? I know stores set the final price, but a lot has to do with the wholesale price they get from Disney.

That sounds fair enough. I hope my store rings it up as 24.99 also. I'll give it a try.

I had more problems with the 3 dlls coupon, they told me that the bluray needed to be a Disney bluray combo pack I pointed out that it was in fact a Disney bluray and a combo pack but since the word "Disney" is nowhere to be found on the box(at least I didn't found it) I tried to explain that Disney bought Marvel and blah blah, I had to enter the Disney Movie Rewards website to find the advertising of the movie, the problem was that in the box it had the Paramount logo so they lady wasn't convinced, fortunately another cashier looked in the Best Buy site and in there it said that it was a Disney/Buenavista release, so in case anyone else have this problem with the coupon, just have them check on the BB site.

:::EDIT:::

I just found in the back on the box that it does says "Buenavista home entertainment"
That was funny about explaining how Disney bought Marvel, but you're right, it is true, though the cashier most likely won't know about it. I would've said the same thing.
Sorry to hear you had to go through a lot of hassle there, but good to see you got the price match.

I haven't been on here in a few months because there has been very little in the 3D movie department that really sparked my interest recently.

But anyways I'm back and I will be watching Iron Man 3 tonight in 3D and I'll let everyone know what I think of it. I never even got a chance to see it in the theater this summer so it will be the first time I see the movie.
Yeah, good movie and 3D, I think you'll enjoy it Swordfish.

Just out of curiosity, what is your display? I felt that it was little dark but not quite as bad as Thor or Amazing Spider-Man. I have Sharp active 3d set and this movie had a TON of crosstalk in it. Pretty much everything in the background was almost unviewable. I am highly considering selling my Sharp and going with the new Sony passive. I would rather take a drop in resolution over being completely distracted by crosstalk. I only remember Avengers distracting me a few times. Nothing like this was.

I have a 55" Sony Active and a 46" Samsung Active. There is generally more crosstalk on my Samsung than on my Sony but this particular movie I actually watched on my Samsung and there was very minimal crosstalk on it. Acutally the Avengers had quite a bit more crosstalk on my Samsung than IM3 did, but I thought The Avengers had better overall 3D than IM3 by quite a bit, even with the crosstalk.

I guess every display out there is different and people will have pros and cons for all of them. But I would personally stick with Active for full 1080p 3D.

Just a little tid bit. I was happy to see you guys found a cheaper copy of the 3D blu ray at walmart. I had already ordered my copy from Amazon, so I sent them a nice email in regards to the price drop and the possibility that I would send theirs back and head to walmart to purchase the copy and they refunded my $7 or so difference. Problem solved. They said it was a one time courtesy, which I found odd, since I thought they always matched their sale prices with whoever had the lowest on the market. If anyone else wants to try the same it worked for me. Don't know if anyone else will have any luck. Just thought I'd share.

i enjoyed the 3d but it was somewhat inconsistent. I thought the first third of the movie looked good/great, the middle third was dark and muddy, the final third was back to good/great. But others have said: weakest marvel 3d movie, yet I still liked the 3d.

This September has been awesome for high profile 3D releases. Star Trek: Into Darkness, World War Z, and now Iron Man 3 show that 3D is an industry standard, here to stay. Unlike some here, I think all three conversions are good, damn good! I saw the standard 2D version of Iron Man 3 with a friend during its theatrical run, and seeing the 3D version for the first time really makes me appreciate how visually superior the 3D version really is. It has great depth and dimensionality throughout the entire movie especially during the major action scenes. It makes the movie more immersive and emotionally charged. I saw zero crosstalk during my viewing. If anyone is hestitant to pick up the 3D version, don't worry. It looks amazing!

So after redeeming my points on the DMR site, I was able to print out two coupons and then I drove to Walmart. When I presented the cashier the coupon, she said the same thing every other cashier has been telling everyone, "The coupon only works towards a Disney movie." I had to show her the back of the slipcover with the small Buena Vista print at the bottom. In addition, I showed her the Buena Vista print on the coupon, but she then said she would have to check with her supervisor. Immediately after, her supervisor said that didn't take those coupons anymore. I asked her why? Since it was a manufacturer coupon, and I printed it from a Disney site. She mentioned something about being scammed in the past by customers with fake coupons. I didn't take no for an answer and showed her my emails I received from the DMR site and Iron Man across the entire screen. Therefore, she didn't know what else to say after that, so she had the cashier check with the store manager. After some minutes or so, the general manager approved the coupon and told the cashier that they did take those manufacturer coupons. The cashier rang me out, and I simply said, "I told you it would have worked." I smiled and left. I can't understand why employees have trouble taking a coupon. It's not like they won't get reimbursed. By the way, just noticed that Amazon dropped their price on the 3D version. It's now listed at $24.99.

Weird. I also have a 46" Sony in the bedroom that I will check it on. Its probably an unfair comparison because the Sony is about 14 ft away and is only 46" while the Sharp is about 10 ft away and 70". After watching Iron Man, I put in Life of Pi for the first time ever and it definitely showed me that the crosstalk isnt dependent solely on the display being used, content has to play a part. I also think calibrating the TV properly could clean it up a bit since I used some settings I found online and rewatched Iron Man and a lot of the crosstalk was gone. One scene that I cringe at is
[Show spoiler]after Tony leaves Pepper the message and it shows everyone looking through the debris of the home and shes off in the background, right before she picks up his mask and listens to his message. Everyone and everything in that scene had crosstalk. Even the pavement.

Also I was too late to get the 3D bluray for Iron Man 3 at walmart, but I got it price matched at Best Buy and I completely lucked out and had a 5 dollar off coupon with my Reward Zone points so I got this bad boy for only 21 bucks!!!! So freaking happy lol

Just to probe a little further, I went to a second Walmart after lunch and questioned the employee working the electronics department, and he verified that if there had been an ad, the corporate office would have changed the tags for the displays. He had no information whatsoever about an ad, and he laughed when I told him the ad said the BD+DVD+DC was supposed to be the same price as the BD+DC.

I think the best thing to do is bring the ad to a Walmart and have them match it since their store name is on it. However, all stores have a disclaimer that says they don't have to honor printed ads if they are considered a "misprint."

Has anyone actually seen the in-store price for 24.96? This is a strange launch.
I agree. A very strange and incosistent release.

The Sony 4K TV is the best of both: full 1080p 3D with passive glasses. My previous active Sony TV was terrible for crosstalk, absolutely terrible, and the current active Sonys aren't much better. (You're right about Avengers, the crosstalk was so bad on my old set I actually turned the 3D off when watching it.) But the 3D on the 4K set is the best stereo image I've seen anywhere, at home or the cinema, though it still can't do much for a poor conversion.

I thought the 3D in IM3 was very good, with lots of convincing depth and dimensionality. WWZ, not so much, it was quite flat and uninvolving. STID falls somewhere between the two, and the slightly squeezed image doesn't help matters.

You're welcome! Yeah, based on what I've seen, it seems that the movie industry is on the right track when it comes to 3D conversions. Keep up the good work Hollywood!!! I'm also with Geoff D in thinking that I actually like Iron Man 3 the most out of the three as being the best 3D conversion of the bunch.

The Sony 4K TV sure is the best of both but I won't be jumping on the 4K bandwagon for quite some time. These really need a price drop for me, even though they have had one, I won't be considering one until they are under $3K and there is enough content. And none of my TV's need replacing either right now.

My Sony which was purchased about 2 and a half years ago I still think is excellent at 3D and I notice very minimal crosstalk on that set.
