Why watch an Escape from New York remake when you could play the ultimate remake that is the Metal Gear franchise?
![]() Kojima took the Snake name from Snake Plissken and made one hell of a video game franchise that would even make John Carpenter envious. |

![]() Maybe you should give it (whichever "it" you meant) a second chance? I mean I love great trash as much as the next guy (especially Cannon trash) but- but- but...Death Wish 5?! A cucumber at the bottom of the vegetable crisper in John Carpenter's fridge could direct a better movie than that. Having said that, I'm now curious about the other bottom nine. |

I hope Shout put out Escape From LA eventually. I'd love for them to pony up for a Carpenter commentary as well. Carpenter is always up for doing special features though, and I can't imagine his asking price being too high nowadays.
As for Vampires, I'm surprised it isn't out on blu-ray in the U.S yet because it was a solid little seller back its day. Not a huge huge seller, but certainly a consistent one. I used to work at a dvd store back in the late 90's/early 00's while I was studying and it sold well there and continued to sell for years after I left apparently. The home video sales were a major reason why the shitty sequel got bankrolled. If Shout released it I'd certainly pick it up. It's a great looking film. |

Revisionism nothin', I've always liked EFLA. As mike said it's not a (eye) patch on the original and it's hardly the greatest film ever made in any case, but look past the dodgy CG and the high camp and there's lots of biting satire about Hollyweird.

Yes I'll give EFLA a pass, only because it's a sequel...but I definitely consider it the "black sheep" of the family. ![]() With that said, I would buy a SF release of it in a heartbeat, if it were ever to happen. |

really depends on what I'm in the mood for. NY is pure Noir with a touch of Western (almost sci-fi western, in a way). LA however is pure action, with a touch of "so bad it's good" regarding those horribly dated 90's "special" effects.
God I wish they'd make "Escape from the U.S" already and put some closure on the character. |
