Default The Black and White CinemaScope Blu-ray Thread

I'm a big fan of black and white films shot in the CinemaScope aspect ratio (2.35.1 or 2.55.1), so I thought I'd make this thread for others to keep track of what's available on blu-ray. Many thanks to HyperRealist, who started a thread just like this last year (and which can be found here: link). He's given me his blessing to take over the maintenance of this topic, which is why I've created this new thread.

The films are organized chronologically, in both the blu-ray and 4K sections. If you see any that are not on either list but should be included, please post them so I can add them. Also, the second post in this thread is dedicated to any and all wishlisted titles. If you have any black and white CinemaScope films you'd like to see on blu-ray, please post those titles (with original release years) in the thread, as I'll be updating the wish list along with the OP.

Was Hud (1963) filmed in Cinemascope? If so, then that's one for the wish list.

It was indeed. I'll add it.

What's weird is that I had that film in the OP, but I must have inadvertently deleted it. I'll add it.

Let's break the rules; four for the wish list.

Sink The Bismarck (1960) is very good, it's been on TV in HD a few times.

And three Sony's from 1958 & 1963

Hammer's The Camp On Blood Island. A WW2 Japanese P.O.W. film

Hammer's, The Damned (US These Are The Damned). A film like no other.

The Victors. A really sour anti-war movie.

Sony won't release them, but I hope someone will license them.

For the purposes of the OP, if it's in the CinemaScope AR (whether or not it was actually shot in CS), it gets included.

Never seen it, but it looks interesting....

IMDB says "with tinted sequences" - not sure which category that puts it in.
For now, I've put it in the "honorable mentions" category, but once it comes out and gets reviewed, I'll revisit that categorization.

Also, Compulsion is getting a French blu-ray release. If anyone can find the cover and upload it into the database, I'll add it to the list.

Here are some "RegalScope" films by year that I think are missing. Probably all wish list items:

Apache Warrior, Back From the Dead, Badlands of Montana, Copper Sky, Ghost Diver, God Is My Partner, Hell on Devil's Island, Kronos, Ride a Violent Mile, Rockabilly Baby, She Devil, The Abductors, The Quiet Gun, The Storm Rider, The Unknown Terror, The Women of Pitcairn Island, Under Fire, Young and Dangerous

1958:

Blood Arrow, Desert Hell, Escape from Red Rock, Flaming Frontier, Frontier Gun, Gang War, She Demons, Wolf Dog

1959:

Alaska Passage, Blood and Steel, Here Come the Jets, Lone Texan, The Little Savage

I don't see that anyone has mentioned Martin Ritt's NO DOWN PAYMENT, a Fox Cinemascope film from 1957.

The only one that's been released (and is in the OP) is She Devil from Olive Films. I'll check on the rest and add them to the applicable list. (Also, bless you for putting them in alphabetical order.)

You might also want to revisit the categorization of "Gandu" and move it to the "honorable mentions" category since it contains a long scene in color towards the end of the film.

(I've mentioned this earlier in the original b/w scope thread =>
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...2&postcount=26 )
