Good trailer. Can't wait for this. I'm alright with this being an entire year away. Gives them time to really make this as bug free as possible. Plus, I'm too busy with other games right now anyways. Also pretty interesting that this looks to be a prequel. I'm really interested in seeing John's outlaw days.

My sentiments exactly, plenty of time and games to fill that void until next fall.

EDIT:

Lucky for us, redditor BlueSaber80 utilized the game's teaser poster to discover who will be starring in the anticipated Red Dead Redemption 2.

It turns out those silhouettes feature none other than main character John Marston and his former pals Dutch and Bill—who you must eliminate in order to be reunited with your family once again.
I hope John returns, thanks for the info. Now I have to play RDR on the PS3 again. Thankfully I still have it ready to play. Undead Nightmare was pretty great IMO too, with more variety in the missions it seemed, though some of those running zombies were really tough.

Sounds good.

Didn't show a whole lot, but it was still enough to get me excited about this!

It's going to be on PSNow, I hear.

I mean some of those pan shots of the sky are what really is getting me excited. The biggest draw for me in RDR was the setting and atmosphere. And living in the city, I've never seen the night sky as God intended. But seeing it in this game will be maybe close enough to good enough. Also, everything else.

Seeing that boat in the water, here's hoping John and his gang will be able to swim and boat. Make the whole map open from the start please.

The center figure would have to be John Marsten if this is a prequel. The Magnificent Seven.

I like to revisit some of my favorite games from past consoles, so I'll always keep my consoles, as old as they can be. The games I didn't really enjoy, I'll sell those or give them away, but most of them I keep considering the investment and sense of gaming history there. It's like having your own game museum.

But yeah, at least you can replay it upgraded on PS4 Now, or that service that is said to be planning to make the RDR 1 game available to some degree.

Nope.

The PS3 version of RDR 1 was terrible last gen mainly due to the program code used to make the game. The XBOX 360 had the better version graphics wise. Also with PS Now since it's a online streaming service if a person does not have a fast enough internet connection this service is crap.

The best way to play RDR 1 now is on XB1 if you have both the PS4 and XB1.Since the XB1 supports backwards compatability.

Here is what RDR 1 looks like running on XB1:

Thanks for the info. 1920x1080p goal, and that preview of RDR 2 running on a PS4. Good. I wish the artists responsible for RDR1 worked on GTAV's backgrounds on PS3 and PS4. While GTAV looks good on PS4, the PS3 version didn't cut it IMO with barren, muddy textures for the grass lands, patches of upraised grass instead of fields of grass, and just couldn't compare to the PS3 version of RDR's beautiful, detailed portrayal of the wilderness.

While I don't have a direct comparison, I do believe you when you say the 360 version had the advantage over the PS3, considering Mafia 2's PS3 version couldn't even handle the upraised grass and instead, just had flat ground, compared to the PC and 360 versions. Those little details make a big difference visually.

Even so, RDR still looks great IMO on PS3 despite the lower resolution of 720p, and the pixelation of the PS3, not smoothing out the edges as the 360 was capable of doing, also having compared my old Fallout 3 on 360 to Fallout 3 on PS3; the PS3 version paling in comparison in many ways.

RDR on PS3 actually has a native resolution of 640p. IMO, it doesnt look that good anymore. I really wish they would remaster it bc resolution aside, the framerate sucks and it could benefit immensely from being 60fps

In that video, yes to a home base, and most importantly, John Marsten finally being able to swim.

Even with the lower frame rate and lower resolution, RDR still plays well on PS3. By comparison it pales a bit, but not a big deal for this older game.

I wouldn't mind seeing an Undead Nightmare sequel, but I can imagine all efforts for the DLC will strictly be online only as with GTAV, after that first update that offered some minor bonus stuff for single player.

During Family Guy, they showed this teaser trailer for Red Dead Redemption on Fox Sunday night. That was unexpected. It said, "Pre-Order Now", for Fall 2017... I am surprised Rockstar announced a game with over a year to go. That is surprising as they tend to announce stuff with a shorter wait time with recent games.

Playing RDR Undead Nightmare again on PS3 tonight, the game actually looks good as far as the artwork, and it controls well too once I adapted to the set up again, but the zombies regenerate as soon as you turn your head and I got swarmed by runners and hags and had no way to fend them off due to forgetting what button is the melee button when surrounded. The character died on the train tracks, surrounded by the living dead.

The board wants some evidence of projected revenue before they respond to a request for more funding for the project. Preorder numbers certainly have some predictive value. That is my guess.
