I think this will likely be a BD pressed version of the episodes currently on streaming services which seem to be a bit better than DVD with the newly obtained shows added back in. Since those are already smaller sizes than a modern show on BD for data the 2 disc set is thus more feasible but sadly not the full upgrade we all would prefer.

I wonder if the original intro will be restored without the cutaways or more likely it will just reuse the DVD edited intro and closing.

Having the Jonny quest blu ray as a 3 disc set at $29.99 and having the Scooby doo blu ray as a 2 disc set at $54.99 makes no sense.
I’ll know for sure next week but I’m betting on it’s a typo.

Comparing the dvd sets Jonny quest was a 3 disc set and Scooby doo is going to be a 6 disc set on that format.
Doesn’t seem logical that there would be such a drastic reversal with the amount of discs going from dvd to blu ray.
My gut feeling is the blu ray will also be 6 discs.

I wish you were right. You're not though, it's 2 discs and it's gonna be pretty shit.

Has a Blu Ray set of Scooby Doo been announced? Where are you seeing it listed for $54.99? Thanks

That'll probably be announced later in the year. An October release would be nice for Halloween.

Pretty please, Warner. The Halloween marathons on Cartoon Network of the original series were one of the best parts of Halloween for me as a youngster.

Maybe it’s best that they released this first. Maybe then for the original series, they’ll use their brains and give it a higher disc count.

So anybody know what the quality is like since it’s only 2 discs?

I’m troubled by this. There is a bit of hope though. It is 1.33 vs 1.78 and the backgrounds of most older HB animation is still. Sure more discs will help, but we do have that to the advantage. The soundtrack is mono or surely no more than stereo so there’s that much more room than atmos/5.1/7.1.
Warner Bros did pretty good with the 60’s Batman Set 120 episodes over 13 discs. that was 1.33 as well. Their was discussion in there about data volumes I compared to aspect ratio.

Not much of a review tech-wise, but here's the first one I've seen: https://dvdcorner.net/2019/05/31/the...lu-ray-review/

Quote:
Video/Audio:
Presentation: 1.78:1 1080p. How does it look? Print defects do pop up but I’m amazed by the transfers given the age of the episodes. The colors are so bright and sharp.

Audio Track: Dolby Digital 5.1. How does it sound? Expect clear and crisp audio.

Extras:
* “The Hanna-Barbera Kennel Club Roasts Scooby-Doo”- Huckleberry Hound hosts this 5 minute roast special which contains a lot of clips.
* “Uptown With Scooby-Doo And The Harlem Globetrotters”- A nearly 9 minute extra with real life Harlem Globetrotters showing off some basketball tricks.
* “Girls Rock!”- A featurette and tribute to Daphne and Velma.

I really hope that they use the original opening for this release instead of the edited one on the DVD release years ago.

Just in case anyone was unaware, the DVD of 'Scooby Doo & Batman: The Brave And The Bold' includes the two Batman episodes from The New Scooby Doo Movies as extras, and the episode 'The Dynamic Scooby Doo Affair' has the original, unedited intro. I think it is unedited. Right after the eyes segment, Scooby and Shaggy turn around and see The Addams Family.

Weirdly, the other episode on the Brave And Bold DVD, 'The Caped Crusader Caper', has the edited intro. No idea if it was a mistake having the original intro on the other episode.

Thankfully there has been a spike in pre-orders for this so close to the release date, currently ranked at #646 in Movies & TV and #300 in Blu-ray and has slowly been climbing for the past 24 hours without dropping down at all. Will be interesting to see just how high it gets upon release.
