This is my most anticipated movie of the year. The first one took me by surprise, I never expected to love it as much as I did. I expected to just compare it to David Lynch's Dune (which I also love). I still wound up doing just that, but it wasn't in the way I anticipated, It was all positive...

Only noteworthy thing is the first look at the new characters. The rest just look like they could be stills from the first movie.

Looks like Austin Butler won’t be playing a sexy Feyd. It was reported yesterday that he would be pale and bald, and it looks like he has some monk-like haircut in this image. Not sure if that’s more accurate to the book.

I know that both Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame were filmed entirely in IMAX but I don't know if the scope versions were just derived from that. Either way, you can bet that IMAX will play a big part in their eventual marketing for this.

They used the 1.90:1 & 2.39:1 aspect ratio not the 1.43:1 that the user mentioned.

I don't know about that, the first film was serviceable but it really only worked if the viewer already had some background with Dune.

Dune 2023 will require having seen Dune 2021 and knowing Dune lore from other sources.

E: the one-sided fanservice scenes didn't exactly enthrall the target audience. I don't know if that'll hurt the numbers for Dune 2023 but I doubt it'll help 'em.

If it's in 3D again, a format that director DV initially dismissed but changed his tune on after seeing Dune 2021 in 3D, then I'll be there to see it. Here's hoping.

I think it will. A lot of people did love the first half, plus the internet is ablaze today over the first looks at Butler and Pugh, plus with the emphasis on getting a theatrical only release, that will help get more behinds in seats.

In 2022, finally watched the original Dune, which was better than expected and entertaining. It reveals a lot of what will probably happen in Dune part 2 without having read the book.
