The real question is if Sony is going to allow an upgrade path for current owners of the PS4 version of the game. |

Edit: I've got no problem with them releasing an upgrade path, I don't know if I was clear with that, I just imagine after the (internet) backlash that occurred when they did Part I, a Part II would be even worse lol. Last edited by Nunab18; 07-21-2023 at 02:53 PM. |

I mean, I'd not opposed to having an upgrade for my current PS4 copy of TLOU2. I just have a bad feeling they're going to charge too much for a supposed "upgrade" in this day and age.
That and I buy physical editions of these, so I'd rather not wanna buy another phyiscal copy of TLOU2, having 2 of the first one is enough. |

Isn't Sony's rate $10 for the upgrade? That seems fair for 4K 60 fps if it can hit that. If I wanted the PS5 version, it would be $20 total, as I only paid 9.99 for the disc version of TLOU2. The first game, remastered version for PS4, I paid 19.99. The only one I bought at full price was Uncharted 4 for PS4, which was a great game IMO, along with LOU 1.

I still have to get back to LOU2 and try to get through that one. The graphics are impressive anyway. |

I replayed Part I on PS5, then binged the series on UHD, and now am replaying Part II on PS5 with the 60 fps patch. Having now played then so close to each other the quality is pretty much the same. I don't think we really need a PS5 specific version. The biggest advantage would be loading times which are like 5 seconds for Part I PS5 version and like 20-30 seconds for Part II on PS5 through back compat. of course I'm sure they can make it look even better but I like how it complements the look of Part I one.
I saw that scene with Santaolalla playing the banjo (yes I read the board logged out sometimes, so I was on the lookout). If they add small things like get him to change his song, ok. That would honestly be a bigger functional change than anything they did in Part I remake. (other than maybe changing infected behavior) If they do some stuff like that it would be fine I guess but I don't want a lot of plot type changes. Of course I would get it day 1 and get all the trophies and all lol. But if it never comes I'd be good with that too. But I guess it's inevitable they'll do something like that, or at least a PC version, when season 2 gets closer. |

I've been doing the same thing, played the Part 1 remaster, watched the UHD and all the extras (which I loved, almost moved to tears by the real life chemistry between Bella and Pedro), then listened to all the the HBO Last of Us podcasts hosted by Joel (which was fantastic), and now I'm almost finished with Part 2 on the PS5. And been listening to the mondo vinyl soundtracks for both games (HBO show vinyl on preorder). What a journey this has been.
Last of Us has been with me for 10 years now and I've played it every year, first on PS3, then PS4 and this year PS5, it's my favorite game of all time. I love Part 2 as well, and will get the directors cut for sure. Was so relieved when the HBO show turned out to be great and it was even better when rewatching on UDH and hearing Craig & Neil talk about their choices and thoughtprocess. This show is in the safest hands, can't wait for season 2. |

No, but there is a rumor that after Joel gets his head caved in, Abby is going to turn towards the camera, offer you a tissue, and then tells you to get over it already.

As per upgrade path, Jim seemed quite clear that that wasn’t gonna happen after the Horizon Forbidden West fiasco. |

I thought he meant there would be no more free upgrades paths. Not that there wouldn't be anymore upgrade paths at all.

For Cross-Gen games. It’s hard to gauge what a Remastered version of a game 4 years later would be. Hopefully it would be $10-20. If it’s a full remake, well we know Sony charged full price for Last of Us Part I. |

![]() The Last Us Part 1 is a masterpiece and did not need a sequel. When Bruce Straley stepped down from Part 2, I knew the story would not be good. I wonder if there was some creative differences going between him and Drukmann. Last edited by Fellini912; 08-03-2023 at 01:28 AM. |
