Default The Last of Us Part 2 - PS5

According to Best Buy, an upgrade is coming. Now, will it be a free update for existing users or will it be a stand alone "Remastered" version we have to purchase? Who knows. Probably the latter if they handle it the same way they handled the first game.

if you already played the game or wanted to real soon it would be hard to get excited to wait for this upgrade, but for those who want to play the game someday soon, but no hurry.. this would be nice

I wonder if Best Buy is getting confused with the Games Radar article that stated TLOU2 supports haptic feedback even though is doesn't.

I'm in this boat. So much to play I never got around to this. I will wait for the upgrade. I wish something official would come out. Hopefully the show on HBO is good.

Free remaster and Sony go like oil and water at present

They'll nickel it like the Spider-Man Remastered imo. However if they did do a free upgrade for existing owners, i'll praise them and more than happy to be wrong.

I have been telling my buddy and also get downvoted heavily for this on reddit. Sony hasn't said a peep about PS5 upgrades for either TLOU game because they are gearing up to sell us a remastered collection. We would be naïve to think Sony will give us it for free .

Horizon Zero Dawn will probably get an optimised version with the PC style features and also be sold as a PS5 remaster before Horizon II launches is my other guess but tbh, apart from that, i don't expect them to have much else to really offer as a remaster.

I think Ghost of Tsushima may receive additional DLC for Legends and possibly a story expansion.

no word on a DLC similar to Left Behind, but I think there's a good chance we aren't getting one

It would most likely be more of Abby, which I'm sure most fans would just LOVE that!

Alleluyah!

And even though I love the game, I ain't buying it again. The devs should provide the upgrade via your own PS4 copy.

Aside from 4K resolution, reflections and 60 fps, how can they possibly improve the already incredible visuals of this PS4 game for the PS5?

Better, sharper, higher resolution textures is the only thing I can think of.

probably reflections ray tracing and then a few texture upgrades you would only notice in a side by side comparison video

Things like improvements in shadows, draw distances, more detail in the background, native PS5 loading speeds, dynamic 4K resolution as opposed checkerboard, etc. Also the possibility of adding in proper haptic feedback controller support, e.g. stress on a bow using the triggers.

I’m sure there’s other things they can do to make use of the next gen hardware that aren’t so obvious at first. More things on screen at the same time, more bushes, more leaves..foliage.

When you hear PS5 upgrade version, pretty much everything has a shot at a decent upgrade from its PS4 counterpart, though.

They could easily bump up resolution, textures, increase framerate, ray tracing, add additional visual effects (just look at demon's souls compared to last of Us, you can add a lot more going on if you want to), Factions, etc.

I get the feeling this was just Best Buy making a listing mistake.

If you notice they added a new listing that includes the Ellie with Bow figurine (Here). There's no "includes next-gen upgrade" logo on there.

If True, It's pretty exciting. I skipped PS4 this generation and I'm hoping to get the PS5 soon, this sounds pretty neat. Whether a PS4 copy upgrade or a fully fledged PS5 release I'd have to buy it anyway. I've yet to experience how good it looked. Can't really tell through Youtube's Compressed video quality.

I'd be surprised if TLOU2 got more than a free boost to get it native 4K60FPS. It's such an amazing looking game already, hard to see many willing to pay for a remaster. Maybe the first games if they want to remaster it again.

But who knows, Sony has done a lot of paid remasters over the years for sure. I definitely wouldn't double dip. Doubt I'll replay TLOU2 anyway. I "enjoyed" it for sure, but so damn depressing its not something I'm likely to want to replay. Enjoyed in quotes meaning enjoyed the art of it and how impactful it was in making me feel negative emotions.

My guess is PS5 gets a "Special Edition" that includes Factions along with all the graphical bells and whistles, similar to what Sony did with Spiderman 2018 bundled with Miles Morales.
