Not so sure it will be there in 2 years, 3D at home is really on it's last legs now at least with major studios, there is only WB and Universal doing MODs and its not a guarantee they will be in the game much longer. 3D at home will end up only surviving of boutique labels with the old legacy releases.

I'm happy with just MCU titles and Avatar 2. There will be a 3D home release of Avatar 2 SURELY.

I'd be happy with ALL 3D movies getting 3D blu rays

Hopefully, if Disney follows Cameron’s wishes otherwise don’t count on it.

Cameron is a major power player in Hollywood so I think the Avatar 2 3D home release definitely happens.

Yes, "Alita: Battle Angel" under the "no 3d fox" also happened, before Disney.

I hope there will be an big push for home 3d with Avatar 2. So we could see the last Disney Animation/Pixar 3D movies on Disney+ and Free Guy, Jungle Cruise.. Also Bond 3D, Mission Impossible 3D, Bumblebee, Men in Black: International on disc/streaming.

Hope studios like Sony did ignore our 3d wish only because they know 3D will come back soon with new 3D TV's (LG rumors...) and they wait for releasing these titles on the new 3d market, when you can buy new hardware in every tv store.

Damn. There are so many good unreleased 3D titles...

We all want it but let's be real here. Sony is NOT holding 3D blu rays back because they are patiently waiting for LG to produce a new 3D model. Same goes for any studio. It sucks but it is what it is.

I wonder if they'll even bother converting future Spiderman or superhero movies to 3D.

Alita had a 3D Blu-ray. Much better than the HDR version.

Yes, Sony could easily built own new 3d tvs if they would be interested in.

They also not converted the new Ghostbusters, Hotel Transylvania... So they did not plan to have an 3D version in their vault for the future. No 3D Update for PS5... (Even Microsoft doesn't care about it on Xbox)

So Sony's "World of 3D" is definitively dead

Sad but true. Just like with Disney when I watch their older 3D blu rays from around 10 years ago and the studios are so enthusiastic about home 3D Disney and Sony had multiple adverts for home 3D. What a shame it has ended up like this.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't one theory as to the demise of home 3d the loss of the polarizing layer on tv's. Others have speculated that because it tends to darken a 3d presentation it perhaps was interfering with the maximum nits needed for dazzling hdr.
So, in effect, the choice was made by the manufacturer's for us, in favor of hdr over 3d.
Choice is always nice.

Maybe not, because scads of TVs, the vast majority of them, are made with sub par HDR. Or, another way to put it, they're labeled as having HDR when they do not. Standards for it have been lower than low, I know the HDR 400 spec among monitors has always been a joke, and the purists will maintain that if you're not getting the HDR 1000 then you're not getting HDR.

Because of that, I've not even seen true HDR, because the only way to see it is to have the latest model of the highest end OLED.

Is the polarization really any worse for image quality than the anti-reflective screen coatings?

Barely any of the discussion on this page has anything much to do with Spider-Man: No Way Home.

While the film is still playing theatrically, please do try and keep this thread on topic...

On that, not sure what we can post because of the spoiler issue. Is the forum's email notification system still sending in plaintext content that is marked as a spoiler?

Because that snafu spoiled the film for me, not in a way that I really minded, I'll never know if the film would have hit me differently had I not been spoiled by the forum. Naturally I don't want to accidentally spoiler anything for anyone else.

Oh, is this still playing in 3D in anyone's area? The Regal here said they were still showing it in 3D, but then announced that it was a scheduling mistake

3D here has been long gone for SM NWH unfortunately, now looking at the upcoming schedule there’s no 3D movies until Turning Red comes out in about 2 months (The Batman still not confirmed if will be in 3D or not).

No 3D for months? Ouch, in that case I'll have to reconsider keeping my movie plan.

On the 3D in NWH, what did y'all think of the scene in the grand finale where one character throws a cylinder and it twirls toward the screen? It's clearly designed to be "Comin At Ya", but it didn't pop out enough that it looked like I could grab it. Mulling it over, I'm wondering if it didn't really have much depth at all, but I thought it did because it was supposed to..?

Also, I'll spoiler it even though it is in FFH, with as hard as they went with making JJJameson a 1:1 parody of the rather inimitable
[Show spoiler]Alex Jones
, this movie would have been seriously spicy if it had actually cast him. Although the parody was fun enough that it got some laughs from me and the boys during our watch.

******** Sony. If this 'MCU' movie was fully made and distributed by Disney we'd have stronger 3D in the movie and a 3D home release. How sad will it be when Into the Spider-Verse only has a 4K release.

I'm just going to stop watching 3D movies in theaters, it'll be easier to accept no 3D blu-ray releases when you didn't see it in 3D to begin with.

We do have spoiler tags but not everyone uses them - ultimately if you want to avoid spoilers, you have to avoid all the places on the internet likely to have spoilers.
