Just watched SUPERMAN VOL III. Great depth and a couple of real good pop outs. Colors are super.

Agree 100 percent with Mr. Kaplan. Superman Vol. 3 from Plan-D is as good or better than the first two. The titles really pop out, and the rest of the 3D is excellent. Vivid Technicolor and beautiful prints. Superb job on all three of these discs. Love them.

I'm very happy (and relieved) to have gotten only positive reviews for Volume Three so far! I will add that I feel it's objectively the strongest 3D of the bunch. I was able to leverage some improvements in the depth estimation tech and I also put in a huge amount time doing more manual roto work on this release.

That all said, I'm not *quite* done with Superman yet and will have a small sort of bonus tidbit launching fairly soon. We'll announce here once it's ready. Please temper expectations though, it really is a tidbit.

That all sounds fantastic—super stoked!

I’m hoping you’ll see fit to tackle some public domain Betty Boop cartoons at some point. And, in two years, Frankenstein and Dracula will be public domain, and in four years, King Kong and Son of Kong will be in the public domain…just sayin’…

All good.... but I don't wanna wait 2 years for our EyePop friends to tackle more '30s genre titles.... Things to Come awaits today....

The Most Dangerous Game (1932) would also be great.

All hands on deck for Phantom Planet at this stage... but who knows what the future holds?

If anyone wants to bag some Kickstarter Exclusive Deals now is the time.

Another really positive review from our friends over at Supervistaramacolorscope Blog.

Here's a little extract...

"Interestingly enough, Warren’s contemporary, Charles Band, actually shot two titles in 3D: 1982’s Parasite and 1983’s Metalstorm (both a part of the brief 1980’s third dimension renaissance). Frankly, much of EyePop’s work on ALIEN PREY looks as good, if not better than the Band pics."

Not saying "no" but probably quite challenging to get good depth maps for those. Animations - particularly where depth maps miss a lot of details - are incredibly time consuming to convert. And then there's the whole "where's the audience?" problem...

The 1933 King Kong literally got me into video/editing/fx to start with and holds a special place in my heart, so I called dibs on that right away
Over the next few years there are some serious films moving into the public domain. Dracula, Frankenstein, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, The Mummy, King Kong, Invisible Man, Tarzan, etc..

That said, the market for carefully 3D converted legal material is.. collapsing. Realistically I'm not seeing myself spending 2-4 months working on a conversion in 3 years to sell 40 blu-rays for seventeen bucks.. But I digress, that's a larger discussion.

That’s very sad to hear. I’ll continue to buy everything you guys put out though, for as long as you last. I really hope The Phantom Planet makes it.

All 3-D fans who complain about lack of releases (like me) should be supporting you guys. My collection is richer because of your efforts. So cool to be able to get nice 3-D versions of so many PD faves. I’m super amped for my latest order from you guys!

I'll echo friend WaverBoy, Phil, in voicing my fervent hope that Phantom Planet can be pushed across the goal line. It really should be a no-brainer purchase for any fan of 3D or classic sci-fi. Based on the clips you've released it looks to be the most breathtaking EyePop conversion yet; it would be tragic, after all the excellent work you guys have done with this title, for this disc not to make its way to fans' living rooms.

Everyone's support is massively appreciated but as Phil mentioned, and I'll do a blog post with more details, realistically backing for the Kickstarters has been dropping by fairly large percentages over each consecutive release - I had hoped it would plateau at a sustainable level but, certainly for these months long conversions and big Kickstarter campaigns, it doesn't look like there's a way forward.

I'm hoping with a bit more effort we'll at least be able to get Phantom Planet over the finish line as I've invested not just months of time on the conversion and now the Kickstarter campaign, but on producing all the various editions rewards right through to the big Space Captain rewards (Rocket Ship, etc) which we're really expensive to produce.

In the meantime anyone who is holding off backing The Phantom Planet - jump on board, this is by far my best conversion and with the numbers involved will likely be one of the rarest 3D Blu-ray Sets ever produced.

We Need your Support. 3D Needs your Support.

Back the Kickstarter now.

Hi Peter, Volume Three is pretty new and we actually haven't worked out a plan to make it available internationally yet. I assume Andrew will be able to drop some kind of an update in the near future.

I'm hoping to have stock for this available next week, likely to be able to get it onto ebay for next Monday. I'll post updates when I have more accurate timings.

Very limited numbers though.

New Plan-D Title added as an Add-On item on the Phantom Planet Kickstarter.

Added! Once you are on the Manage My Pledge” page, click “Change My Pledge” and then click the “Checkout” button. Once you are on the checkout page, click the “Edit” button and the new add-on appears. Then both your original pledge and the add-on are there and you can complete checkout. Not very intuitive, but I bumbled around until but I got it.
