Then explain them having NO actual disc art for THREE full years? LE items being a rarity? Filler boxes being super boring? FUNi back in the singles era was the only company that gave a damn about giving people a reason to keep their filler boxes, and now, they're garbage. Most people don't care about those, but I do, I've kept every single one.

FUNi's products have declined in quality year by year, with some exceptions.

One Piece and Attack on Titan disagree with you. Psycho Pass disagrees with you. Battle of Gods disagrees with you. Cowboy Bebop disagrees with you.

Very rarely do they not.

Really? Your complaint is about disc art? Most companies don't bother with disc art anymore.

I don't even know what you mean by filler boxes.

Really? If you're talking about in general which includes like Hollywood studio releases, then yes, you're correct, but with anime? VIZ does, AoA does, Ponycan USA does, Discotek does, Rightstuf does, Media Blasters does (And they're VERY low on cash and now do DVD-R's!), Sentai does, EVERYONE that puts out anime regularly in R1 that isn't named FUNimation still TRIES to do disc art. It's something that matters a lot to me, especially now. One reason I buy anime is to have a nice physical release of a show I liked enough to want to buy, and bland disc art ruins things.

As for filler boxes, remember back in the day when you bought a single and it came with the artbox, and you had this big thick box next to the DVD to prevent it from sliding around? Or in FUNi LE's that include just one part, and have this flimsy box right next to it to prevent the case from sliding around? That's a filler box.
[Show spoiler]

Other companies back in the day did this. While I keep them, there's not really much reason to.
[Show spoiler]

The only place they usually would do something is the front, because that would need to attract someone's attention in the store. Sometimes the box was just white or black cardboard with nothing. FUNi on the other hand would do artwork all over the box, and much better artwork.

Madman confirmed to be using the Dynit(Italian) masters, so they're officially releasing the best version for the English-speaking market.

Honestly, I love disc art, but I'm over it.

BTW, what do you mean by disc art? Because Attack on Titan and Ghost in the Shell Arise have artwork on their discs.

Did not even know Media Blasters still released anime, let alone.

Who is AoA?

No, I actually don't remember art boxes having thick piece of card board. RahXephon, Noir, and Gankutsuou, had flimsy card board in them.

AoA=Aniplex of America=Aniplex USA

By disc art, I'm talking about doing things like the left (And yes I know it's a Geneon release), instead of the right. http://i.imgur.com/ms8xWnl.jpg

Good disc art:

Lousy disc art:

You don't get actual color, you have this color-coded crap. And AOT does have disc art, but FUNi's domestic release of Gits:Arise does not. It does the color-coded crap and has no actual color. And the imports are far better by comparison.

FUNi usually only tries anymore with shows that'll appeal to the mainstream, like Cowboy Bebop, Space*Dandy, or Attack on Titan.

By thick, I meant the box was large, not the material used to make the boxes. Those filler boxes would be like 2-5+ DVD cases wide when standing them upright in the box.

Meh, I'm so used to owning movies without disc art these days that I guess I just don't care anymore. None of the Marvel Phase 2 movies have disc art.

As for Aniplex, for the prices they charge, they better have artwork on their discs. Hell, for what they want for that Gurren Lagan BD set, a blowjob giving Yoko better be included. :-)

I agree. Unfortunately it seems every thread in this section has recently turned to bashing Funimation.

I did not mean to start all this bout Funimation. I apologize I meant Viz but Funimation popped into my mind when I typed it.

So if one were to purchase wall scrolls or a poster whats the best poses of the scouts are there in your personal opinion. Also is there any characters by themselves in a picture besides Sailor Moon or do those don't exist?

I will get start the sets the next sale for ViZ or earlier. I am finding nice tapes.

I didn't realize the SM TV episodes released on VHS by Pioneer were edited since they didn't have the DiC logo so I may have to collect every tape I run across now

I find it amusing how no other media companies in North America bend over backwards to appease their costumers like anime distributors do, but said companies still get crapped on all the time.

In the grand scheme of things, we have it pretty good.

That being said, Viz still dropped the ball pretty hard on its Sailor Moon remaster...

Yep, it's coming out on 10/27. The set was listed at Right Stuf in July.

I know you got an answer already, but I use this to keep track of upcoming releases.

I usually go there as well and when I get around to updating the list here that's what I usually use. Some personal things have prevented me from updating as much as I should be though and I lose track occasionally.
