Seeing this in IMAX, thanks for these.

This was my favourite shot. Love the night exteriors.

I hope the newer multiplex in my neck of the woods is showing this in English. I've avoided absolutely everything trailer & marketing wise but I have heard it isn't an action romp (thank Hell for that). Italian subtitles are annoying but no way I'm watching it dubbed.

For people like myself that feel the need to digest every single frame that's released: there's an exclusive clip at the end featuring Wallace, Luv, and a newborn replicant.

P.S. Saw a TV spot yesterday in which
[Show spoiler]Wallace is briefly shown holding up a skull. Rachael?

P.S.2. The 'Experience Joshi' video is up courtesy of Sony Pictures Germany, but Robin Wright's dialogue is dubbed! Guess I'll have to wait for the English alternative to crop up later today.

Kids get a bad rap. Every bad experience I've had with cinemagoers talking in the last few years - and I've had plenty - it's been adults that were the culprits.

I've had adults, mostly women who cackle so freaking loud. I remember when I saw TMNT Out of the Shadows, during the Ice Age trailer, a woman cackled so loud, people in front of me and myself leaned forward and looked down at the direction she was in.

Yep, same here. We're squarely back in typical IMAX "more foot/headroom" territory in the 1.90, which is actually the point of seeing it on such a big screen (the immersion prompts the viewer to make their own 'crop' as they follow the action) but it looks genuinely framed for 2.39 and I'd expect nothing less from la Deakins.

I'll plan to see 2049 twice: once in IMAX, and the other in regular DCP because I think the 2.40:1 framing suits it more.

I'd still like to actually see it in IMAX, yeah. Not 3D though, and my nearest IMAX (a good four-hour round trip away) is only doing the 2D as early evening showings apart from weekends...but I work weekends. So no IMAX for me, I think I'll survive though.

I'm doing IMAX 3D and then IF it's as good as they say, I'll see it flat in Atmos.

Being an old git, I'm still amazed to see stuff in 3D. If you'd have told me when I was a kid that I'd be seeing films like this and the MCU stuff with Atmos and IMAX and in 3D to boot, my flares would have combusted. All we had in them days was THE INCREDIBLE HULK on TV and a five-year wait to see films we liked again. You ungrateful whippersnappers, you!

Meh. If everything was actually in GOOD 3D then I'd be lining up for it, but this right here is the epitome of a pointless conversion with no express 3D intent on behalf of the filmmakers (not that all modern native 3D stuff is well shot, it's not) and for such a dark, smoky-looking flick then the reduction in brightness inherent to 3D isn't gonna do it any favours in the cinema.

But if we don't watch the original in 3D, why should we watch the sequel in 3D?
And I'm not a anti 3D guy. I'm just saying I want the movie to feel like it's in the "universe" and "family" of the first one.

Yeah, I feel like the 3D isn't gonna do 2049 any favors whatsoever. If anything, I'd rather get the expanded image in IMAX than strain my eyes over crappy 3D conversion.

The only way you'd get me into watching something in 3D is if it's made for it and well shot (i.e. Avatar)

Also, I thought 2049 is getting an IMAX 2D release only.

It would be like if we watched Jurassic Park as it was, and then Jurassic World gets released in that vector graphic aesthetic used in Sin City.

Apparently it's getting 3D IMAX overseas.

Some actual critics are tweeting now...

"essentially NO COUNTRY FOR OLD REPLICANTS. Astonishing neonoir candy. For once, believe the hype." - Eric Kohn - Indiewire

"I'm so completely staggered by Blade Runner 2049 that it's just taken me seven separate attempts to put my coat on afterwards." Robbie Collin - The Telegraph

Followup tweet from Robbie... "I mean this as a serious if slightly weird compliment: I feel like I've just seen the last blockbuster ever made."

"Full review of Blade Runner 2049 next week, by which time I shall have re-seen things you people wouldn't believe, again..." Mark Kermode

"I can confirm it's masterful. I can also confirm @emmyrossum cried a lot at the end." Sam Esmail (Mr. Robot)

"Am I allowed to say how much I love Blade Runner 2049 now?" Sara Vilkomerson - Entertainment Weekly

"Blade Runner 2049 really is next-level staggering. I'm still processing how good it is." Peter Bradshaw - The Guardian

It's a great feeling when it sounds like your most anticipated movie of the year might be one of the best of the year.

So Blade Runner 2049 will go down as one of the greatest sequels ever made, along with Aliens and Terminator 2: Judgement Day?
